Throttle stuck WIDE OPEN

Out in the car today and the gas pedal sticks wide open............ I shut the key off and was no worse for wear. Very scary and very lucky nothing bad came of this.

Has this ever happened to anyone? and does anyone know why this happened to my car?

Make sure its not your floormat...I just remove my floor mat when driving.

This happened to me last week at the drag strip, just before the tree started. It turned out to be the cable for the cruise control. I don't use it anyway, so I just took the cable off and have not replaced it yet.
The cable came apart both on the top and bottom.

Cruise Control??? I thought maybe the coffee cup fell out of its holder and jammed the pedal.
