Gen1 - Driver valve cover - small screw hole in bottom front. Looks like the same screw holes that spark plug wire harness attaches to. They are in the center and right bottom and in 3 spots on passenger cover.

But, this one is the only one without anything screwed into it. It's just a hole and it doesn't look like anything has ever been screwed into it. I took pictures before I changed anything and nothing is screwed into it. What is it for? Should it be plugged wth a screw? Here's a pic.

Who has their car near them? Can you go look?

hang a picture on it..ha!

I think it's just for the wire loom to screw into. If I remember right...you should have 3 of them...now also too...on the otherside of the cover (passenger side)....there's pipes that are attached to the valve cover by a small bolt...so it's just production work because I think the covers are interchangeable on either side...except for the oil cap...

Anyone with a Gen1 get to check out yours? Just wondering if only mine has the hole open or if it is plugged with a wire harness even though there aren't wires to run through it.

I'll look, but honestly don't know where I should be looking in your picture. The only unused hole I see is the rusty one on the exhaust manifold? (between the power steering hose and heat shield.)

I was looking at mine last night. I noticed two threaded studs sticking out the passenger side cover. Nothing is attached to the rear one, but a bracket is bolted to the front one. On the drivers side, I have the hole you inquired about. So I put a tooth pick in to see what I could find out. It goes in less than a 1/4". No oil on the tooth pick. Not sure why it's there. We have a mystery hole!

Actually, I am sure these are interchangeable covers and the drivers side just does not have a need for the stud.

WOT! Cool thanks

Tom, It's right above that exhaust manifold hole on the bottom edge of the valve cover. You can't see the hole in the picture. That was just one I took to show that there isn't a wiring harness bolt in the hole.

This was obvious from the start. A photo showing something that doesn't exist in a hole I can't see. :D :D :D ROTFLMAO.

Avi - OK I probably deserved that and I could have taken a second picture, there were before I pulled the heads and I didn't know the hole was there.
