Are TSBs covered under an extended warranty or only the original warranty? Someone has suggested that I stay away
from the 96 and 07 GTS models unless I know the car or get written proof that all TSBs have been done. He told me
those cars had a large number of them and if they have not been done that there could be a large repair bill.
Can a dealer check records to confirm if they have been taken care of?

If it is a recall or "goodwill repair" a manufacturer repairs those at no charge to the consumer.

A TSB is basically a document that assists the technician diagnose or how to go about repairing a..... lets say rough idle.

A recall is for something like the 998 / 999 suspension recall that was paid for by DC

An extended warranty would not cover a repair that corrects a factory defect, unless the defect caused the tranny to go south. Then I would imagine the repair would be covered.
But some of those service contracts have a lot of Philadelphia lawyer stuff in them too.......

If the item that needs to be repaired has a TSB that addresses the issue AND if the repair is covered under whatever warranty is in force at the time,(new vehicle or extended) the repair is covered.

If the item that needs to be repaired does not have a TSB that addresses the issue but is covered under whatever warranty is in force at the time, it's covered.

If the item that needs to be repaired does have a TSB that addresses the issue but the item is NOT covered under whatever warranty is in force at the time, it's NOT covered.

And logically, if the item that needs to be repaired does NOT have a TSB that addresses the issue and is NOT covered under whatever warranty is in force at the time, it's NOT covered.

Conversely, recalls are paid for regardless of warranty status.
