I have a lead on a red 98 GTS with 12K miles on it that has just had a "Viper Warranty Replacement" engine put in. I saw the crate at the dealer and it had a Detroit, MI address on it. The Viper tech recalls the "Arrow" name when he sent the engine in and said it was a numbers matching replacement. I am currently trying to get in contact with the owner to see if he wants to sell it cheap. Any idea what it would be worth for me to buy with the idea of reselling? I am only interested in it since I think it is an arrow rebuild and should make it attractive to someone. The car has a nice appearance, although I have not checked it out for accidents or any thing else.

The rebuild is a bonus if you ask me. I had mine done back in 98 and feel it was a factory upgrade.
P.S. NEVER sell that RX-7 I had an 82 that I should have never let go of!

Thanks for the reply on the Arrow rebuild. I will never be able to sell the RX-7, my wife would kill me. It is a blast to get on a mountain road!

I agree a rebuild is a good thing when done by Arrow, of course, the reason for the rebuild might be an issue.
Might want to check out the Clutch too, etc.

If the car doesn't look like it was beat on, try to pick it up for $40k, you'd be doing very good there. Anything less, you'd be doing great IMO.

Good luck.

If you don't want a low mileage original car, I agree with Casey. Under 40k may be a long shot, but as I always state to these types of posts, you can ALWAYS give more money. ALWAYS. Low ball them.

Thanks for your reply. The tech told me that the guy had told him that it was heating and someone told him to put headers on it to make it stop. It didn't. Then it went to a dealer that did not have a Viper tech and they said it had a blown head gasket so they put a new one on a took a wire brush to the block and messed it up when they put the new gasket on. After that it was a mess and wound up at another dealer with a Viper tech I know that ultimately put the rebuild in. He told me that the instructions with the engine said to change the oil after 200 miles of break in. He also mentioned that if it was his he would have resurfaced the flywheel while it was down due to some chatter, he did say it settled down some after he drove it about 20 miles.
