What does everyone use on the sheet metal screws that hold the baffles in, red loctite? There was some nasty smelling gray stuff on the threads when I removed them.

Also, is there a need to run a bead of sealant around the baffles once they are installed in the cover?

thanks all

Explaining Viper things to you
They came out tight and went back in tight so no Loctite.

My inconclusive conclusion on the sealant was that it is likely a design to the nth degree kind of thing. Short of a full blown and sophisticated labyrinth, a crankcase vent path that the guys and gals at the EPA would bless. It makes the crankcase vapors go to the other end of the valve cover from the vent tube with no shortcut.

I'm guessing my oil consumption will go up a tablespoon per 1K miles now. :nono:

Shh...... ;)

I have different color valve covers and have swapped back and forth a couple times. I've seen no backing out without using any locktite

Thanks guys. I wonder if I should re-install the baffle system that sits where the PCV originally was??? It seems a bit restictive, and the cover on the drivers side does not have it. HHMMMMMM
