Bought my 2001 RT-10 two weeks ago. The VIN according to the "VIN Information" section of the VCA website indicates it is a 2003. I am confused. VIN is 1B3ER65E91V700947. The tenth digit is a "1" which would indicate a 2003 car (unless I am misreading the VIN instructions). It was apparently also registered in the Viper registry prior to the seller's ownership, but the registry shows it as a 2001. Any thoughts?

No, my car is an 01' as well. Just checked, my 10th digit is a "1". You must be misreading something..

What he may be misreading is the registry, which is telling him Z for the 10th digit, right? It's possible with at least two owners reporting a 1 that there is a mistake in the registry. As a Corvette collector, matching numbers guy I can also tell you that as the Vette boys found out over the years, what we THOUGHT we knew to be absolute about numbers will absolutely turn out to be.......Yes, but with exceptions to the rules.

1 is for 2001. 3 is for 2003. Difficult eh? We have 10 years of easy VINs and then back to letters.

1 for 2001 and 3 for 2003 makes perfect sense...that's just not what the VIN information section on this website says. But okay...thanks for the info.
