Good morning, enthusiast's.

I've started the conversation with a seller today and assuming that goes well, the next step will be to arrange a full inspection of the car. The car is located in the Montreal area and I recognise that there won't be a huge amount of knowledge around, so they don't have to be a "Viper tech" as such however knowing their way around classics is a must.

Can you recommend anyone please?

Wait, you're in Australia and buying a Viper in Montreal??

Shipping will cost more than the car, won't it?
Well spotted Zombie.

Re shipping, that's actually not too bad. Estimate RORO or Container about $3.5K USD.
However the bigger cost will be taxes + Taxes on top of those taxes. We have your equivalent of VAT which is 10% here. Then there is the export duty which is another 5% plus other BS port fees, decontamination etc.
When it's all said and done, it's going to cost me another $10- $12K USD to get it to Oz.

PS: Not only am I in Australia, I've never seen a Viper in the real world as they were only sold in very limited numbers here (and only in R/T form) :) So to say I'll be buying it "sight unseen" is an understatement.

Now that's what I call a true viper fan!

For what it's worth, the province I live in has what's called HST (harmonized sales tax) and I had to pay 15% when I bought my viper o_O

Good thing I bought mine quite cheaply

Only a govt dept would would be evil enough to create something that has "Harmonized" and "tax" in the same description.... :(

UPDATE: So from what I've read, dealers in Quebec are legally obliged to disclose in the selling ad if a car is a salvage/rebuilt title, right!
Well this dealer felt that type of info was obligatory so I won't be buying from him.
Never mind. The search continues ...

Hey Mr Oz, I live in Ontario, Canada and from many car dealers here and from my own experience, I’d never buy a car of any kind from Quebec, Montreal especially unless I personally knew the seller.
Have you posted what exactly you’re looking for? I’m sure you’ll find it.

Thanks for the info Perry.
I wasn't ready to buy just yet however this car was enticing because of the price and I could have stretched things to get the deal done.
Upon checking the VIN, it became clear it was salvaged in 2009. Are dealers legally obliged to disclose this in the ad?

When I've got all the fund together, I'll post up what I'm looking for.
