The weather was great, about ten vettes showed, the viper count was Viper Dave and myself. It is obvious that the vette group loves their cars and the racing. I will make it short and sweet, Viper Dave (stock 94) ran a best of 12.34 (115 mph). He ran the 12.5 bracket. In the eliminations he ran a 05 C6 and beat him, but, broke out at 12.49. It was also kind of strange, I thought I saw a nitous bottle in the vette, maybe it wasn't turned on.
I had both electronics issues and a transmission problems. For some strange reason my VEC didn't hold the program, so I wasted the first two runs. I ran the the extrme street class which was anything faster than 10.5, but, the car had to be streetable with an irs and a factory transmission. The competition in that class was a C5 with an automatic and nitrous. I ran him in time trials and he ran a 9.98 and I ran a 10.2 @ 139.8 with a 1.7 sixty. At the end of the track he beat me by a car. This was with a very long shift between second and third. The 2nd to 3rd shift was almost impossible and got worse throughout the day.
I analyzed the run via the logger and it showed that the car had traction problems in both first and second. I had the tires over 20 lbs because the traction was so good in Norwalk two weeks earlier. I dropped the air down to 16 and also added another 50 hp of nitrous. I ran the same vette in eliminations. I came off the line, the tires hooked and I bogged a bit. He shot out a couple of cars and at the end of second I had him by at least a car, then the transmission locked out of third. It wasn't a missed shift, it was like hitting a wall. The trans has to be pulled and fixed. In ending we got our butts kicked.
