Want to replace the stock speakers in 01\'RT. What are improved direct fits?

Hello;

I do not want to cut up or alter my Viper. Just want to make a substantial difference in clarity using existing amp and head unit.

I would replace tweets, mids, and the woofer with superior drivers in existing locations. I want suggestions for brands that would serve as direct drop- ins. Any ideas or personal experience? My Viper is an 01' RT/10.

Thank!

Jim

I have JL Audio 6.5 coaxs in my front door. They do flush mount. The trick is to use a 6 inch grille. I have a digital camera. I am just too lazy to go take a picture.

If you do an upgrade, get coaxs and leave the factory tweeters disconnected. That speaker position is horrible.

I also have a sub mounted in the passenger foot well area. For the amp, I built a 3 inch box for a PPI 6600 5/6 channel amp that goes under the spare tire. I got a coupler for the factory bolt. The spare tire mounts to the lid of my box. Since the box is 3 inches tall, the spare tire is 3 inches higher than normal

Since you are in an R/T, I would be inclined to leave it alone. In a GTS, you can get pretty good sound.

Chris,
gimme a call, I had an awesome sounding RT/10 with Mega bass. I can tell you what I did, if that interests you. Mainly was an 8" Subwoofer ran off its own amp. Speaker placement is key here. Don't WASTE your time and money putting in woofers in the middle. Sound (Bass) just escapes and can't bounce off any surfaces to get to you.(Bass needs reflective sound waves to sound nice). The 8" woofer was tucked in the passenger footwell area. It was a Rockford fosgate 8" woofer that only requirs .3 cubic feet of airspace. It THUMPED!!!! when the roof was on. When the roof was off, it was just so so. That price sounded WAY too high.. Problem is , your not getting enough bass to make your stereo "Feel loud". Take bass out of ANY stereo and it sounds like "Mud". Check your email for pics...
