Was thinking that now it is hot in the desert and Viper is not too fun in the heat that I would sell the car (had it almost two years now) and use the money to pay down some moderate home equity borrowing. Idea was that I still wanted to end up with two vehicles (I recently bought an SRT-8 Jeep Cherokee), but wanted the second car to be something more polished - I was thinking a 996 GT2 for $90k or so would be perfect in a year or so. Started doing a few things to the Viper to get it ready to sell, then I starting thinking a few things:
1) I hate the idea of cleaning up some issues then selling it and letting someone else have the enjoyment from my work/expense right at the end (kind of like replacing the carpet in your house right before you sell it);
2) the portion of the home equity lending I would pay down with the proceeds only has about a $200/month nut;
3) I am pretty sure that life will get at least a little better, but planning on having a second fun car for close to $100k is just too optimistic - and there is just no part-time (I daily drove it for over a year but those days are over) very fast car that gives you the value of a Viper; and
4) I really have no interest in going through the hassle of trying to sell the car (heard too many of you guys' horror stories). So I am going to keep it and treat the summer like you northern guys treat the winter - as modding season - and be ready when the weather comes back in the fall. If life brings on something bad and I need money, I'll sell it then.
Until the first problem I have I'm happy with the decision. Thank you for the support.
