Hi Everyone,

I have an '06 Black/SS Coupe and have the MGW trim ring for the cup holder, and it holds well, but the other day I took a corner and some coffee with sugar in it slopped out the drink hole and went down the window controls right next to it. Next thing you know, after it dries, the driver control button is stuck like crazy. I have to break the stuck position every time I want to use the button.

So I go to Radio Shack and get some of that electrical contact cleaner, and spray it in and it doesn't help one iota.

Finally, I took the shifter console off and had to unscrew the window control buttons and, disconect the harness, snap the controls out of the plastic holder, and actually submerge it in hot water.

Shake it out, reinstall, and then my driver side power window has a mind of it's own for an hour or two. Up and down for no reason. I assume residual water in the switch was making intermittent contacts. Thank gosh the tunnel gets hot. The switch is dried out now and everything works again.

Needless to say, a mug with a closeable lid is next.

I never eat or drink anything in my Viper.

I don't want the distraction while driving.

I don't want to spill stuff on my car.

Thanks for the heads up...my car will be a daily driver and I will keep that in mind...no drinks in the car except a closable water bottle.

I totally agree with you on this one, especially the distraction issue.I don't eat, drink,or smoke in the car. There's plenty of time for that when I get to where I'm going,or take a break if it's a long trip-I don't know about everyone else, but I need the full use of both hands(not to mention my eyes and brain)while driving.

Ummm, not to start an argument, but it can happen, with any car. When I was an EMT some while back,I had more than one patient whose description of his crash began with "I was just reaching for my cup of coffee,and......"We share the road with some idiots, and when one of them does something no reasonable person would expect.....I think you get the idea.

Guys,
Why turn this into a debate about distactions in the car? I post to maybe help someone avoid getting their window control buttons stuck like I did, and it turns into an accident avoidance thread? Jeez! I didn't burn myself, have a wreck or anything. A tiny bit of drink came out of the opening. The cup didn't come out of the holder. I just had to do a lot of work to correct a problem from a few drops of coffee going down into the power window buttons. Nothing more, nothing less.

Man!
