Is it a keyway for a Crank?

Good guess Donzi. It "used" to be a key (ROLL PIN) for a crank. Until the crank decided it was time to slice out 1/4 of it, completely sheer the other, run-out the crank bolt, throw the belt, and blow the crank seal  . I'm using solid double sheer dowel pins this time around. Anyone else ever have this happen?

Not to bad, according to tom at fields. The slots on the crank were a little galled but they drilled new ones for the solid pins. The balancer was fractured on the hub side so we had to replace it. All in all I think for what the damage could of been, I got off pretty easy. Tom at fields here in chicago is a real miracle worker. Thanks Tom! Judging from the way the roll pin split at the seam, the orientation of the pin in relation to the crank appears to play a factor. I think the seam of the pin may have been facing the the side of thehub that applies force, which compromised the pin and caused it to split. This is all just speculation, but after examining the pin and also speaking with Sean Roe, the theory appears to hold water.
