Thinking of upgrading the shocks on my street only SRT. Have heard lots of good things about the Moton systems.

What would the specific benefits be to upgrading the shocks?

I understand they help handling at the track, and are used to lower the car, but what is the difference in ride and non track use control?

From what C&D said about the Moton equipped Heeennessey SRT10 it was much better ride quality than the stock suspension but that may have been helped a bit too by the upgraded wheels and tires...

For me it was about slamming the car. Front wheels are tucked and the ride is better by far than my slammed zo6. I guess it's the poser in me. The ride, the ability to lower and the adjustability at the track. :D

Hey Paul,

Talk with Dan Cragen at DC Performance. He put KW's in my car and what a difference! He recommended against Moton's for me for two reasons: 1. We both felt that I wouldn't be changing them on a regular basis (Motons would allow for a race only and a street suspension setting, for example) and 2. Cost.

Yeah I am struggling with swapping the stock suspension for motons too. For me the car only sees street use and, while I would love to lower it, $4000 plus to do so seems a bit crazy.

I personally like the stock suspension set up and, while it is bit tight, i dont mind it at all. In fact, i think the stock suspension provides very good feedback from the road.

Can some of you out there chime in here and give us your feedback? I know Viper D just did his as well as a few others.

Hey Paul,

The Moton Club Sports, while a few more $$$ than some of the others are very nice pieces. They work extremely well and like most things, you get what you pay for. I have them on my SRT-10 and will have them on my GTS soon. Here are some features / benefits that I've noticed:

1 - They offer adjustable ride height not just for looks but you can get a better alignment with them than with the OE set up. You can also corner balance the car for better handling. This translates to better tire wear and much more predictable handling on the street. You know how brutal some of our concrete freeways are. Also, properly aligned, the car will be less "darty" than stock. If you have "bump steer", and every SRT-10 that I've driven does, a good tech can get rid of this more easily too.

2 - You can run different size tires and the car won't look funny, like a stink bug with a huge fender to tire gap. I run 18's on the rear because I need the additional traction. None of the 19's that are currently available "stick" very well with our cars.

3 - The ride firmness can be easily set to your preference. It can be set much softer than stock for comfort / cruising / travel and much firmer than stock for aggressive track useage. Also, I've found that with the Paxton's additional power, I can get rid of most if not all of the annoying wheel hop by simply adjusting the shocks.

4 - You can pick your spring firmness front and rear and you can change it at will, if you'd like. With the stock setup, you have what DC gave you. I went with 500lb front springs and 800 lb rears (recommended by Woodhouse). These spring rates, combined with the adjustability of the Motons for both compression and rebound give you everything you'd want in a mostly street, sometimes track, sometimes high speed, sometimes drag car like ours.

I guess you can tell that I like them. IMHO, they are the best shock product available for our cars, especially for the money.

I hope this helps.

The best money I ever spent on a mod for viper (... except for that cupholder thing :nana: )

Very controlled ride even when set to firm. With stock suspension I would have bounced off the road on many occassions. Plus the looks when lowered....

Cupholder - $4, shifter - $200, Motons - $4k. The option to tune the suspension - priceless. For everything else there is ...

Paul,
I guess the answer to your question would be remote adjustability, but if your not tracking the car then that would not be very important.,

I just installed KW's on my 04 SRT and what a difference it made!, I choose them because I like the springs they use, for street

pm me your phone # and I'll go over it with you, if you want, I do my own installs it's simple and fast.
