YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! 2 to 3k miles will KILL a collector car.

Heck, the 39 miles on this car hurt it a little. If it had the original 8 to 12 miles from the factory, it would be worth more.

Guys, you can not compare a car with a "few thousand" miles to this car. They are no longer the same car.

Do you guys remember when Ryck wanted to sell his 97 Viper with 400 miles on it? I said it would bring a good amount of money. Sold it for 70k.

This car is at 1996, the first year, with less miles! Collectors will pay the price. How many 1996s are out there with less than 40 miles?

If you pay the price, you can't drive it. Every mile will reduce the value. Figure about $10/mile lost investment for the first 2000 miles. Then it will start to level off.

I'm not so sure I agree with that. Very LOW under 50 miles, etc. Why would it bring any more than a 5k mile similiar car?
I see the difference when it hits 10k, 20k. But difference between 50 and 2050? No so sure.

If a car is 25 years old and highly collectable. I don't think there will be a significant difference maybe a couple grand. But not $10k or $20k.

If collectable cars with Very Low miles are worth alot of cash. What's a 1990 ZR-1 worth with 12 miles on it? It's burgundy and still has all the stickers, plastic on it?
I doubt it will be worth much more than a 20k mile car with the same setup.

I could be wrong. As I don't deal with these type of cars often. But in my limited experience. A rare car, limited in numbers like the GTS, B/W in particular, will be worth a ton of money even restored, etc when the time comes.

I have to agree with Jerry. My 97 is the one Jerry talks about in his post. Jerry told me to hold out for more money. Who knows?

I know the history of this 96 car. I know where it came from the orig owner, then where it went. (someone on this web site with a very nice nest of Vipers) Then I saw it traded back and then sold to Naples. When the orig owner traded it in, it had EVERYTHING with it. Plastic still on wheel, seats, etc... and all the other 96 issued goodies that came with the car. I saw, and touched the car after the orig owner traded it in and the time it went to the second owner. I didn't see it after the second owner traded it back in, but I can say by knowing his collection, I'm sure this car was as perfect when he traded it back as it was when he got it. The best of the best, next to the one I sold! :D

As a good friend of mine (who I don't get to see much any more) says, "There is a lid for every jar."

On another note.... I'm watching speed channel right now and they are coming back to a feature on Tommy Archer!!!! So far two comp coupes have been shown leading up to the segment!

look guys, i too watch all the cars that roll on and off the stage at barrett jackson and most of these cars are low mileage original cars 50 plus years old sporting 40k-80k original miles!!! and still net out 20-40times more than what these cars sold for brand new. now granted that these cars may have, and many times do have a small fortunes invested in a restoration, you can bet your ass that the viper will be gracing the stages of many future jackson auctions in the future at crazy prices. documentation is what makes many of those old cars worth the prices they demand, period. TWIN, being that it is going to be a car you want to put in a hole and stare at for the next 20-30 years, which is fine, i would say spend the money and go for it, you can find a 3-6k car no problem for less i am positive, but that is clearly NOT what you want. i have less then 9k on my 97 and i feel like i really never drive it now, every couple of months i guess. bet your ass that if it had 39 miles on it, how could you drive it and not feel quilty after all this time.

AND TO FURTHER ELABORATE ON MY ORIGINAL POST ON THE RECALL> ONE COULD ARGUE THE 39 MILE CAR BEING MORE VALUBLE UNMOLLESTED WITH THE RECALL IN THE ORIGINAL FACTORY SETUP> just my .02
