You can wash the towels with no ill effects to the machine or other clothes. I have a tendency to wash car wash towels alone though.

Sal recommends you wash them alone, with no detergent boosters , water softeners or fabric softeners. Just use detergent only, and dry without fabric sheets , as stated previously.
