Hi,

I have a 2001 Viper RT/10 and need to do my first oil change. When I type oil change in the forum search I get nothing but a 1994 oil change post.

I would think 5w30, or 5w40 Mobil One, but wonder what the experts think.

Mobil One Extended Performance, is available in 5w30.
Regular Mobil One is available in 5w40, 0w40,0w30, and 5w30 also.

Thanks for any replies,

Thanks Neil,
Those are some great pictures with your screen name.

I also noticed the extended service mobil one is available in 10w30 also. It claims to have 50% more Syn, 36% more anti-wear additives, and 37% more cleaning agents.

I have a 96' RT/10 and I havent done my 1st oil change yet, (no i havent had the car since 96'..i've only had it a couple months) but I'll be using Mobil 1 10W30 when I do. FYI--5 quart bottle sells for $10 at wal-mart :)

I think if I use 10w30 I will go with the new Extended Performance version.
Thanks,

Seriously....

Do the first oil change yourself if you don't know the service history of the car. Mobil 1 is a super-premium long-life oil and will easily hold up for over 1 year of Viper usage without breaking down. Don't waste money on unnecessary service intervals.
