What\'s a good street/track alignment to reduce understeer for my \'06 Coupe?

Also, what are the stock specs?

I'm getting my car aligned tomorrow.

Thanks,
Andi

Even better for eliminating understeer is slightly wider front tires. Great improvement on the track.

Also note that wider tires provide more trammeling (what some people may call bump steer). That is the propensity to follow road irregularities. I noticed wider and more square profile tires magnify that aspect. But stick like glue in the corners.

If you want to minimize understeer you have to play with spring rate (higher in rear) and sway bar (softer in front).
You can also stiffen the dampers in the front to slow down the weight transfer that occurs when you get off the brakes as you enter a corner (which lifts the front).

A little toe out can help with turn-in, otherwise alignment does not affect understeer.

You know I just noticed no one mentioned tire pressure. That should be your first adjustment I would think.

Stock run flat tires

PSI = STREET TRACK
ZP = 30 PSI 32 PSI
ZP = 30 PSI 32 PSI
---------------------------------------------------------------
Michelin Pilot Sport Non Run Flats ( Per Luke at The Tire Rack )

front = 33 PSI This tends to dial out the understeer
rear = 29 PSI

I have nbeen running the following in my viper with the above tire as I like it firmer and the tires have been wearing evenly.

front = 36 PSI This tends to dial out the understeer
rear = 32 PSI

This is the link for an earlier post. I would use Chuck Tators specs if the year and models are the same. You might want to give Chuck a call.

Also when you do an alignment on a viper it needs to be done with weight in the seats as if people are sitting in the car. Some people use sandbags or have 2 people sit in the car during the alignment. I do not remember the weight spec but if you need it I can look it up when I go into the shop later today.
