Okay, keeping in mind I want to keep the Viper rims...

I have a red Gen 1 with the 1996 Gen 2 wheels. I was thinking of chroming them (as the clear coating just doesn't hold the shine as well) but am know thinking of painting them black with the Viper logo in the middle painted red. Any picture of someone who has these rims black on a red RT? Preferrably a Gen 1 with the black side exhaust?

Thanks!

Well, there is a chroming place in San Antonio, but not in Austin. However, IF I pain the wheels, then that opens up more local options...

Chrome looks great especially if you have the chrome side emblems, BUT DO NOT chrome the CAST 96 rims. They are weak to begin with. Get a set of 97-98 forged rims to chrome. Powder coating also looks good.

Well, you saw what happened with my wheels at Wheels America. I'd only go there again if it was to burn the place down. Put that on my Christmas list...gasoline, matches, Wheels America, s'mores.

Something Pharr, Weaver and Cody mentioned was that they'd only trust a place that plated the face of the wheel as opposed to the whole thing. Reason being, in their experience the chrome would start to rub off where the tire seated on the rim after about 6-8 months. They said there isn't a place in central Texas that just does the face, and while my wheels aren't going to win any car shows I'm not willing to shell out big $$$ to ship them out of state.

I tried Photoshopping some black powdercoated wheels for you, but it proved to be a little difficult. Personally, I think the black would look cool, especially with your black emblems. Whenever I have a little extra money laying around and the "important" projects are finished, I'd like to powdercoat my 3-spokes black for when I track the car. I think it adds an aggressive, no-b.s. look to an already mean-looking machine.

Lastly, your car and Phil's car are little too close to being twins...RAISE THE BAR, RYAN! INNOVATE!
