Where to mount MAP sensor for boost gauge?

Can anyone with an electrical boost gauge, (specifically the Autometer Phantom series), tell me where you mounted the MAP sensor? Inside the drivers footwell, on the firewall, in the engine bay? Not really sure where the best/safest location would be. Also, having to mount the sensor with the pressure port facing down to prevent condensation buildup, seems to limit mounting options. Thanks for your help!

While I do not have experience with the exact component you describe, nor know its dimensions of mounting system, generally, when it comes to MAP sensors, as close as possible, and as far from a single runner as possible. Generally, directly behind the TB's is a good. bet. If you mount too close to a runner port, the gauge will continuously spike as that valve opens and closes.

My MAP sensor (the one that came with the boost gauge) is mounted right above and just behind the stock MAP sensor, up under the cowl. More of the hook-n-loop type of stuff...or double sticky tape.

If you have a VEC2 you can connect to the black tube with a "T" that goes into the VEC2. On a supercharged viper don't connect to the stock MAP sensor. There is no boost at this location ....

Absolutely agree with the features that an electronic gauge provides (and of course I purchased one from Joe last year ) You cannot beat the feature for holding the max value. I am not able to watch the gauge at WOT the damn street is flying by too quickly.

One thing to watch for is the orientation of the MAP sensor. You want it so that condensation does not go toward the sensor. Other than that any place is okay. I mounted mine on the fender well with velcro.

The vacuum line is T'd off of the brake booster line. Seems to provide a steady and quick reacting signal.
