Slotted and or drilled rotors. Not sure if there is any real benefit to braking.

Lot of theory but pro and con. I would not waste money on slotted or drilled rotors. I have the StopTech Big Brake kit on my ACR, that was a braking improvement.

I wasent expecting a big improvement in braking but they look alot better on the car especially when i'll be getting the ccw 505's! Some may call it a poser mod lol.

FYI one Issue with drilled rotors is cracking around the holes.

If you are buying drilled/slotted rotors for an illusions of high performance rotors then cost vs looks may be the guiding light.

But if you want stopping power use the stock rotors with better brake pads and rotor cooling hardware like air deflectors.

EBC discs are great got mine from Jon B they are dimpled,so they look just like drilled rotors as the dimples are painted black and are slotted to help brake gas dispersal I do agree with Fred but I could never afford the Stoptech kit for a couple of track events per year.

On the road the EBC's look great.

Yah i heard about that issue. Like i said it is just for street use, not the track. I figure with Tom's 40mm kit, drilled and slotted rotors, and EBC green brake pads i should have alot better stopping performance.

I saw the EBC rotors but they are a bit expensive!

I have used last 2-3 years RotorPro's from E-bay. Get zinc plated with painted hubs. Cheap and works well. I dont track the car, but for everyday cruising they are OK.
I change them about every 2 years or so. Not that they are worn, but they tend to develop tiny cracks. No problems with them so far with about 15K miles.

Rotorpro's? I'll look into them. Thanks

With better braking meaning heat soak; you can still lock the wheels up with ebc greens, just not time and again in short time spans.

I don't want to spend that much.
Plus if lauri's (redenuf) runs these then i'm sure they will work fine on my car and their only 210.00 shipped!

skimping on the brakes is a bad idea,IMO. I see in your sig you didnt have a problem spending money on all the power adders. I would spend the extra and get a decent set of rotors and pads. I prefer more stopping power, I dont mind cleaning my wheels just because of the dust. Hmmm stopping power of less dust!!! I'll take stopping power everytime. .02

I would stay away from drilled rotors.
A day when you ride 130mph and you need to break you will regret having the drilled rotors.

Roe Racing sells great slotted rotors. I have been using them for 6000mi with good result (with brembo pads). No difficulty even to stop you from 180mph.

Like i said Lauri has these rotors and has no problem with then and i know a few other guys on this forum have them. I just don't think theres a huge difference between drilled and slotted rotors brands. Not enough to spend an extra 3-400 bucks on. I think with a set of these rotors, toms 40 mm rear brake kit and porterfield pads i'll IMPROVE my stopping power over stock without a doubt!

ditto, I would take the slotted roters over crossdrilled. Infact my Mag srt8 had the slotted rotors from the factory under the TSB. Looks goods and has good stopping power.

Did you say that you bought the R1's? How do you like them?

I bought them yesterday. We'll see soon. I figure for no more than they cost I can keep and eye on them and if they are trash I'm only out a couple hundred bucks.

I have taken my car many, many times beyond 130-150. Daily, I would say. Like today at 160, more than once... :2tu:

I have Carbon-Carbon pads from Tirerack (Skandinavian Brake systems) and have not had issues. I removed the EBC greens being no good for my type of driving, since after 10 minutes (or less) of agressive driving on curvy Pocono roads, they faded to nothing...

With the new pads I have not experienced the same problem again. I usually change pads once a year, sometimes every 2 years. When the pads are done, I simply throw rotors into the trashcan too. That should say something about my driving... I am ******* brakes.

Yes, there WILL be some cracking around the drilled holes. Some are insignificant and once there they dont enlarge. I keep on eye on the condition, just in case. I have not eneded up changing the rotors yet due to the cracking.

After 3 years only thing I would say, I'll buy my next set from them too. My Lexus SC400 is actually getting rotors from them next.

IF you track, I would stay away from E-bay rotors. Tracking is completely different animal...

Great for simple Bling-Bling!! :2tu: :2tu:

Fred is giving you guys some great info. Those of us that run on the track realize the biggest problem with Gen Is and Gen IIs are the brakes--- with rotors having alot to do with it. Having seen drilled rotors blow up on the track, slotted is the way to go, but even for you folks that say you don't do much track stuff, but you run way too fast on the street, why would you skimp on rotors? These cars do not get enough air to the rotors/calipers ,so spend money equal to what you do on your motors to slow down these beasts. Just my humble opinion , but if it goes faster , it needs better equipment to stop better. In many cases the aftermarket rotors are not as good as what comes from the factory, and some we have found are even more fragile.
