Who doesn\'t mind high mileage?

Here's a car that looked real good by the description, just has "high" mileage. Always check out a car thoughly, but to get into a 99 (best year for performance) at the price of a Gen I, is a great deal. I was curious about the car and he reponded that the owner is willing to take $35K for it. Thought there might be someone that could get a good deal with it here.

99 RT/10 cheap.

high mileage shouldn't scare anyone b/c it is cake to rebuild one of these motors. It is like a chevy 350 + 2 cylinders. easy as pie!

When the cars increase in value, mileage only increases value very little. Just sold a 67 shelby GT500, no one ever asked the mileage. These cars are to be driven, bad things happen to cars when left to sit for long.

Tell him that some guy on the Viper board named Anaconda said it was worth $30,000, and that is what you are offering.

Re: Who doesn\'t mind high mileage?

Why do some people think that 40 or 50k miles on a Viper is high mileage? If it is a "collectable" one then I could see it as high mileage but most all of us bought these cars to drive them not to let them sit in a garage and hope that they increase in value in 30 years. As long as the fluids are changed on a regular basis and the car is taken of, there shouldn't be any major concerns. Miles don't scare me at all.

Re: Who doesn\'t mind high mileage?

What is the highest mileage an engine can attain before failure? I would guess higher than 200k if driven normally and well maintained since the RPM levels needed for any speed are lower than on most cars. (example GEN II Viper in 6th gear at 80mph is only at 1600 rpm) Anybody have any really high mileage Vipers?

Exactly. I just bought my father an 05 srt-10, and I told him, if he doesnt drive it every day, and get a million miles of smiles, then I really got screwed on the purchase.

Enjoy these cars. If your primary thought is what happens when you sell them, then you are truly missing out on one of lifes greatest pleasure.. a v10 and the open road ahead !!

People who own Vipers and don't drive them everyday are wussies (except for those that don't drive them in snow, even I don't do that)

Re: Who doesn\'t mind high mileage?

When I was Viper shopping, as long as mileage was below 60k, I didnt care. Ended up finding my 96' w/52k miles and it had just had a lot of work (new clutch, brake pads, tuneup, etc.) all within 10k miles. I couldnt be happier :2tu:
