hi,

Ive had my 97 GTS for just over a month now. I love the car. Anyhow, I know vipers had problems with water leakage. I do on mine. When I wash my car. water leaks in from the top middle of the windshield.

Lastnight , I found out why. The main windshield rubber seal. On the outside is loose on top. And it seems that the windshield doesnt fit 100%. There is a gap on the very top. Where the windshield should butt up tight with the roof. But it doesnt. I dont know if this is because the rubber seal should be filling up that gap? cuz the seal itself is loose. Can someone help me on this? Thank you so much

Hey Lee,
I have fixed 6 or 7 Vipers with that water leak. The rubber seal that you are looking at is for looks only, it does not seal anything! Your leak is coming from where the factory sealed/glued the roof panel to the windshield frame. The dummy that was doing them DID NOT go all the way across the top with sealant and he did a lot of them!

Two ways of fixing it: 1> Replace the windshield and while it's out finish sealing the roof panel to w/frame.
2> Go to a glass shop and have them pull the rubber seal and fill the gap between windshield and frame with sealant [across the top and down the sides], then put the rubber seal back.

Hope this has helped?
