WOLFGANG\'S REVENGE (the actual VW ad)

Yeah, yeah - "repost! repost!" But as I have yet to see the actual video online I figured I would start a new one. I recorded tonight's episode of House and lo and behold - the VW commercial! Having no idea how to get it from my DVR to my PC, I simply used my digital camera to capture it. So the quality isn't perfect (and my dang camera kept trying to adjust the lighting in which the ad was shot). Oh well.

Besides the obvious Viper slam (oh man, and what a slam!!), you may note that ALL insulted vehicles are DC products: The 300C (twice!), the Viper, and a Mercedes SLK. I guess they didn't want to poke at the General lest they revive them. I'll bet Wolfgang had a hand in approving this one, although I am a little disappointed he would take a slap at his old Viper buddies.

Amazing how the news media spin stories. Wolfgang was not recruited by DC he was fired by DC!

He seemed to make a good impression to some, but not to me. But personally I thought he was lacking logic and responsibility. This is based on a short conversation with him on the way to the Crazy Horse Saloon in Nashville at VOI. I really enjoyed Viper's Le Mans success and went to Le Mans with ORECA/VCA in 1998. At that time he was in charge of AMG Racing program. The Mercedes(all three) LMP blew their motors the first few hours of the race and the Vipers Won first and second GT.

Sitting right behind Wolfgang on the bus I asked him when was the Viper going back to Le Mans, he responded(pretty nasty tone) never Le Mans is to dangerous of a track.

In 1999 the Mercedes had problems during practice with aerodynamics as in flying vs staying on the ground. One flipped without being hit or spinning etc, simply to much up force. Rather than accept a poor aero design they continued and the cars continued to fly. During the 99 race a Mercedes flew over the trees along the course flipped and landed on its wheels. They finally accepted that their car was a better plane than race car and closed the garage doors and headed immediately back to Germany. He blamed Le Mans for his racing failure so as a reward he gets promoted (in German eyes this may have been his punishment) to run DC.

His anti Le Mans Racing legacy still lingers in the Ivory DC towers.

To bad!

Don't we all know a couple of owners who fit the stereotype shown in the yellow GTS? I know I do! Insecurity is certainly one possibility for Viper ownership. But then there is always appreciation of beauty and style, that can be experienced by anyone, regardless of their self-esteem. Its only the jealous types that have to resort to slander to make themselves feel better, and now they have their competing car, what was it, the Pusssy, the Pansy, oh, yes, the Passat. (A chicks' car, snicker, snicker)

I like the wording of the legal disclaimer, shown in fine print just before the ad ends- "Closed course. Do not throw megaphones or metaphors out your window"

I hadnt seen the ad but reading about it on here, I was actually hoping for more. I was thinking it'd atleast be funny. That wasnt even funny. Just very stupid in my book

He never impressed me either. He acts like a know it all that doesn't know anything and is actually quite stupid. All show and no go.

Guys I saw the ad tonight and was hit three times:
1- I have a Viper
2- My wife a new SLK
3- Wolfgang twice tried to walk off the dance floor with his arm around my wife at VOI7

Conclusion: I have the car, I have the girl; no short comings here!

I did think that ad was ridiculous. Yea, were going to belive the loser in the VW has it going on..

Wonder if the people that did this ad are the same ones that decided to rename their poor selling Golf...the Rabbit?

Very insulting advertising. Personally insulting buyers of other cars. Almost a stereotype of arrogant Germans. (No offense to non-arrogant Germans).

The worst part of the whole commercial is the last few lines said by the narrator. "The V.W. Passat (Piss-ant), lowest ego emissions of any German engineered sedan"
That's just adding insult to..injury. A. The Viper is AMERICAN, even with a Daimler backing, and B. The Viper is as far away from a sedan as you can get!
