Ordered the 08 today

a few tidbits

i spent 3-5 days pondering my final choice on color using the dodge site,winding road and this site to look at the colors... i had narrowed it down to a vert in green no stripes, red no stripes or blue metallic with silver stripes..However the dealer has samples of the colors.. they have an 08 catalog showing samples of all dodge / chrysler colors for 08 including the eight viper colors...in the end the blue was close but it was not as nice as another light blue on the catalog so i stayed with red...2 tone interior

Stripes are a $3000.00 option was suprising to me.

Navigation is a $1790.00 option.

Protection group is an option and i believe is just floor mats and cover

Any questions bout cost of other options just ask

Now i just have my srt8 jeep to drive for 7-8 months , o well

Congrats On The 08 Order. I Have A Snakeskin Green With White Stripe On Order. The Protection Package That Your Dealer Told You Was A Floormat Option Is A Knee Bolster Airbag And Side Seat Airbag. My Buddy That Ordered His 08 With Me Did Not Order That $450 Option. He Thought Theres No Extra Room In The Cockpit To Inflate. Man The Way I Drive I Need All The Airbags I Could Get.

Wallbanger, what was you agreed upon price? + or- Msrp?

I am fortunate to have a local dealer in a small town who qualifys to order an 08 - i believe one must have a least a viper tech and a decent selling volume of srt vehicles - this was told to me by a respected large volume viper dealer. My dealer does not have the volume so i am assuming the owner had an inside contact and was guaranteed one and only one viper for 08.

i do not want to reveal the selling price as i do not want to upset the larger volume dealers and jeopardise my deal.... however i can reveal the mrsp and invoice

extra options are
wp7 rims,protection group, 2- tone interior, includes gas guzzler tax
mrsp 87,740 cost 80,904

i feel guilt about posting the invoice price but that is the way this dealer does business on all his cars ,, he will show u the invoice and then tell u how much profit he is gonna make.. all of his salespeople are on salary, no commision.....It is the same way with harley dealerships - they all have their diferent way of selling bikes - the dealership in Gettysburgh PA would tell people when the delivery date of a the bikes were and people would start sleeping out in the parking lots 3-4 days befor a certain model arrived just to get the bike at msrp - they would put the model of the bike on a home made sign on the windshield of their car or sleeper van.

'Larger volume' dealers should only be larger volume dealers because they treat their customers well, not because the might control another dealer's ability to sell a car. This '08 will be my 3rd Viper purchased, and I'm fortunate to also know some folks at Dodge, so if I ever heard of a dealer manipulating somebody else's deal, I would call them out on this VCA board for all the world to know about ... if you got a good deal, that's great for you. and if you didn't disclose the details, it would be out of concern for preserving a fellow owner's enjoyment who may have paid a little more, not out of fear from some 'big brother' larger volume dealer ...

I checked with my dealer last night after seeing this, he looked up order and confirmed that it is "embroidered floormats and cover" he said the protection package on some other dodge products is indeed additional airbags but not on the viper. I hope he is right.

Just a quick question about the protection package: If one orders a two-tone interior, do the mats have embroidery that matches the two-tone color? Before the word of the protection group option came out I ordered these mats from the Northern California VCA to match the blue two-tone interior on my 08:

Likewise, any information about the quality/color/appearance of the car cover that is included with this option?

I was just about to have the protection group added to my order because I thought it would include additional airbags, but I'm not interested in paying $450 for floormats and a cover ... clarification on that option sure would be helpful

Food for thought: the Norcal VCA mats were $150 (a little less if you are a VCA member).

Ray is right or his Dealer is right, Sales code #ADB "protection group" is floor mats & car cover ONLY. NO side air bags!
