1999 was a good race for Vipers at Le Mans! The factory / Oreca cars came in 1st and 2nd in GTS; C22 won and C23 took 2nd and 12th overall, then went onto race at Le Man again in 2000 and Daytona 00/01 with Chamberlain Motorsport. Ever wondered what happened to these GTS-Rs? C22 is being restored and C23 is now restored to original concourse condition in France by Florent, and ran on track again recently raced by him. Oreca team owner Hughes De Chaunac was reunited with the car and specialy signed it. Please enjoy the pics and beauty of this wonderful GTS-R. Florent has done a fantastic job. If I can restore C02 to half as good as this, I will be very pleased :)

I wish I could get my hands on the GTS-R's body work. I know the hood, rear finders and front bumper are all unique.

Nadine,

Do you have some history on that C02?
I'm updating the GTS/R Chassishistory...... very curious about anything to learn about them.

Some pictures of your GTS/R would be great too!

Thanks
Arjen

Thanks for posting!!! Great pictures. Those were the good old days and I hope someday will be repeated!!!!

It saddens me every year that Dodge is sitting on the sidelines while Chevy is making such a strong statement!!!

Why are the prices for the '98 GTSR so strong??

It's not the 100 car production, its not the white paint, its preserving the proud memory that all viper owners have when viper took on the world and won!!!

Best wishes w/C02 and thanks for sharing!! I hope from time to time you'll post progress and pictures to keep the old memories alive!!

I'm working on securing molds for those pieces as I type. I will keep you posted. :)

I work at the company that made the carbon fiber molds, made the entire body and built the original cars. We still have the patterns / molds in storage and offer replacement parts, layed-up exactly as they were supplied & built. It's just a bit pricey since it's the real OEM McCoy.. not for those who are looking for a cosmetic / aftermarket part which can cost less for several reasons including high OEM manufacturing quality. A few already bought some parts we had in storage, but again, these aren't for the those who want an inexpensive aftermarket part.

Are you getting new carbon fiber patterns made?

Some original parts can be seen in this pdf, even in the first page you can see the hood & mold coming out of the autoclave:

Excellent pictures Nadine! Would you happen to have the original high rez pics available to email?

I thought the original parts were made by ORECA out of France.

The 1998 GT2s retain a high resale value because the 100 built are street replicas of a historic automotive moment. Much the way the 500 1969 Charger Daytona's sell between 200K and 700K depending on the motor and condition. The actual GTSRs will also command huge prices now and in the future.

i havent ever heard of Oreca making any viper parts, they just distribute supplied parts on with a tidy profit to the euro race teams

Almost 10 years ago the Viper was absolutely dominate in GT-1. Now Corvette dominates GT-1 around the world. SRT designers walk with white canes and the SRT goes ricer drifting or marks the end of the pack in GT-2. GTS Bruce

After adding another fine scalemodel to my collection I started thinking about the GTS/R development again.

If you look at these pictures you see 2 GTS/R models as runned by Larbre Competition at 24H of Spa in 2001.

Why does one car have an exhaust in the middle and the other to the back of the sides.....
Why don't they run both cars the same....

Anyone with a list of updates available for the GTS/R or details about the development through time.
