Now that the engine is out I took the opportunity to remove all the welding spatter inside the engine bay area, along the transmission tunnel and around the shock mounts. These are the before pictures.

Pics after removing all the weld spatter. Next step is to prime the bare metal areas. Then some black paint. I will also be installing heat barrier to the transmission tunnel.

I have been struggling to find a company that wants to create custom gauge faces for my Viper. It seems that most of the companies only want to work on older muscle car gauges. They don't want to touch new stuff like the Viper. But I think I may have found someone with the expertise to work on these gauges.

Before I send the gauges away I made sure to remove the gauge face from the gauge. The gauge face was crimped onto the gauge housing. I was pretty sure that noone would want to attempt removing the gauge face, so I did. I used my trustworthy Dremmel with a cut of bit and proceeded to remove the crimped lip. Worked like a charm.

just curious, how are you able to get into the gauge with the odometer without having issues when you hook it back up? I would think Dodge would have some sort of way to prevent people from rollling the odometers back and wouldn't this be an issue?

I have will not be modifying any of the electrical components and/or mileage on the odometer. Anyone could open up the gauges just as I have done. But the trick will be resealing the gauge face back onto the gauge housing because there is no longer a lip to crimp back over the gauge housing.

So if someone were to purchase my Viper and remove the gauges from the dash they will see that they gauge has been modified.

Before I modified my gauges I have made sure to document the mileage with pictures and documentation (bill of sale), service history and of course this build thread.

So in the event that I chose to sell my Viper I will have proper documentation to confirm the mileage and the fact that the mileage has not been 'turned back'.

Doubt that scenario would ever happen but the real deterrence would be them being able to read the vehicle miles off the computer and should that differ from the speedo odometer you got some explaining to do.

I take pride in being a very honest person. I have no intentions of modifying the speedmoter mileage in any way shape or form. Heck the car only has 1800 miles to begin with. It's brand new anyway and my bill of sale shows the same mileage as the speedo. :2tu:

I have simply removed the gauge faces because no company wanted to do it for fear of breaking the gauge.

I will hopefully be shipping the gauges out very soon to have custom gauge faces made.

Explaining Viper things to you
Just curious, as I do a lot of 3D CAD modeling, what the point of modeling things like your engine is? Don't get me wrong, as it looks great, but 3D modeling is somewhat time consuming and subsequently can be expensive. So what drives you to do it?

Hi All!

This Viper only has 1800 miles and hasn't even reached it's first oil change!!

You know it would have been much easier to just have removed the oil drain plug :lmao:

I've been looking for the drain plug all and I can't find it :dunno: :D Please tell me where it is before I remove the body off the frame. :rolaugh:

New set of 14" 2003 Viper SRT-10 calipers, brake lines, proportioning valve and emergency brake kit from Dave's Big Brakes. These will be installed on my Viper. :2tu:

I honestly don't know when I will have it finished. :dunno: I am hoping sometime in 2009.

I am really enjoying the journey and taking my time. I am a perfectionist and want to to the best work possible.

I am getting closer to finding an engine builder. There is so much to learn when it comes to building a kick a$$ engine. I have made sure to consult many VCA experts. Just gathering the information has taken some time on my part. Best part is that I have made many VCA friends :headbang:

Wow I just read all 18 pages as well and I must say this is an AMAZING build you have going on. Like everyone else has mentioned, makes me feel like tearing my RT/10 apart but with the funds and being a student that doesn't work out. Keep up the good work!

You're putting so much work into this car I think you should name it and pick a logo for it. "GTSbud 1000SG" (Show Go).

Larry Macedo did tons of work and built a beautiful GTS Roe GTS. Like yours it has tons and tons of work and ends about 1000rwhp with a Roe and N20.

Hmmm...GTSjbud 1000 SG hey? :dunno: Maybe :smirk: :D

All I know is that it is so much easier to do these type of upgrades now that the engine and transmission are out. And heck, heat barrier is very inexpensive in the big scheme of things.
