I am confused! I see there is a Aero Package on some cars (including verts) and then there is the ACR Aero Package.

After reading many posts I gather these are not the same pieces.

ACR is factory, what about the "other" Aero Package?? Is that from CAAP too, or aftermarket?? What does it consist of??

Thanks!:hail:

The aero packages that I've seen consist of the front splitter (no dive planes) and a rear non-adjustable wing. When comparing an ACR to an aero-package equipped car, it appears that considerably more attention was devoted to the ACR wing (i.e., its far more contoured). I may be mistaken, but I don't recall that the wing on the aero packaged car is carbon fiber.

The aero package is from caap i believe , it's a smaller different wing for the vert but the coupe wing looks similar...aero package has the single front splitter versus the acr...the coupe wing has less downforce than the acr and the vert wing even less than the coupe

SellshomesdrivesviperRe: Aero Package vs ACR Aero Package
Does any dealer have the above car for sale?

Probably not as the Aero package was not avaiable early on when SSG first came out..I thought I heard that Woodhose ordered 2 09 SSGs with aero out of the 20 SSG cars being made for 09...but you are not going to get it at AARP pricing:lmao:

If I cant trade for a ACR I will wait until someone clones the Aero kit for a real-world price..

That car was available at LaFontaine motors in Saleen, Michigan for many months. It was sold at VOI10 in August. I personally almost bought the car but opted for the black/red with aero.

The factory aero package on a coupe is the same as the ACR except it is a few inches shorter on each side. It is carbon fiber and contoured, mounted, etc. the same as the ACR. The front splitter on the ACR has dive planes on each side where the coupe aero does not. Aero package option on the coupe is $6,500 and the aero package is not seperate on an ACR, it is part of total ACR (competition) package which is $12,050.

BigJag, thanks for the info.

Can the SSG be order through the parts dept?? What is the PN?:rolaugh::D

Do I gather correct then that really the wing and diveplanes are the only differance really between the ACR and regular Aero package? So say someone with a Aero Package can buy a ACR front splitter extention and it will bolt on??

Did I get that right?

Yes, lets see pics too!

Another question. is the vert wing different than the coupe wing?? I am looking at the vert that was just posted and at the SSG coupe posted further up and they look different.

Why?

I think the only difference is the coupe wing is mounted higher up and the side plates are bigger than the vert wing. I haven't seen a vert wing in person so I can't say for sure.

No difference on the wing or the splitter on the Aero Group or the ACR, except the fact that the Aero group does not have the additional sectional to bolt on underneath to give the ACR the track extension for road course use.

Other differences are , of course , no Stoptech rotors, no sidewinder rims or Pilot Sport Cups, no KW suspension system, no availability of the special paint for the ACR, no ******** package, etc.

All ( wings/splitters ) are done at Prefix for both ACRs and Aero Grp. cars, and we do have 3 incoming in SSG ( one is a vert ).

Respectfully submitted,
Bill Pemberton

Bill, the wing on the aero coupe is definitely not as wide as the wing on the ACR.
Below is a picture of an ACR wing (copied from forum member FikseGTS recent post) - extends out all the way to end of body panels

Coupe does not extend as far, although hard to see in this pic

This pic shows better that the coupe wing is not as wide

Sorry to disagree with Bill, I'm willing to bet he meant the splitter was the same. The wings are certainly different in size AND effect. Here's what the SRT Engineers said about them in the chat.

Thank you SRT and Dodge I LOVE my Viper and the new Gen 4!! You guys ROCK!

The ACR makes significantly more downforce than either aero package. The aero package wings are based on the ACR form but they are twelve inches narrower (cross/car) and do not have the Gurney kick up at the trailing edge.

The roadster aero package makes about the same downforce as a base coupe (roughly 170 lbs at 150 mph). The coupe aero package makes about 600 lbs of down force at 150 mph. The ACR makes 1000 lbs of DF at 150mph.

Lee was correct about what I meant, but no big deal, just in a hurry. The vert wing is fixed as you may have noticed, also.

We do have 2 SSG Aero cars coming as noted, and the one with the black stripes is here now.

The wing on the verts is very attractive and not nearly as big as on one of the prototypes shown over a year ago.:headbang:
