Rear wheel stearing... LOL!!!!

Its not the best. Try doing it here in the UK on our roads..

Here's an example how to do it.. but I couldn't make up my mind so I went around again.. like a roundabout in England? :D

Here's a video.. once you snap it loose, just be moderate with the pedal, Viper has enuf torque at low rpm to keep it sliding around.. most make the mistake of too much rpm and lose control..

Better yet, a Miata.

Would have to agree with Austin here...if one were trading a Viper in just due to U-turns! ;) My Vette has roughly same turning circumference as the Viper. I LIKE your video Mike...THAT'S the way to turn a 360! :drive:

I would say you need to practice turning more. I have no problems making u turns in any of my vipers. Now the Ram Mega Cab on the other hand needs a three point turn in less than two lanes and a wide shoulder. You should try starting the turn long and to the far right then cutting tight to the inside.

Hmmm, that's a good tip. I always get stuck right after the first spin. I guess I need some more practice...:D

When I first bought the GTS, I was shocked to find out that a turn I could make in my 1963 Cadillac (18 feet 8 inches long) presented problems for the Viper. You just gotta get used to it or learn some of the techniques taught above!

for a second there I thought I was posting at the Alley.

I'd prefer not to spin the tires every time I have to turn the car around at an intersection though. I guess the "long way 'round" is the simple answer

A wide turing circle is an expected outcome of wide front tires.

And if you need to spin the tires at a normal intersection then something is wrong with car or driver. In my 15 or 16 years of Viper driving the turning circle has never bothered me.

A turning circle is a turning circle...there is nothing you can do to that. Except stop driving a car you do not like or master

I think the fact that you said you were "Embarrassed" opened that door. On another note, I wonder if you could use this line..........."You see officer, the Viper has a very wide turning circle necessitating the use of excessive force.......uh torque that is......sir"

You're right about that, rims are like drums / barrels interfering with suspension components, and also there is quite a bit of scrubbing, when in full lock the turning radius path of each tire becomes less concentric, fighting each other to turn on a different radius center.

I made a little CAD video illustrating this..

Being a bit more thrifty than the rest of you big spending pals and with the high cost of fuel, I like to pull the hand break and cut the wheel to the left and then mash the accelerator through the carpet. The explosive exhaust sound washes out the sound of honking horns from rear and oncoming traffic . Don't forget to fasten your seat belt.---------:spin::spin::spin::2tu:

When you have a car with a large motor, and large tires, it is going to have a large turning radius.

Turn those huge tires, and they are gonna rub if you try to turn them too tight.

Sorry, but it is the nature of the beast.

Tiny cars with tiny engines have the best turning radius.

:dunno: i always thought the wide turning circle had something to do with the car being a 150+ mph track car :drive:

no. but as mentioned there is not much room left to tilt the wide(r) front tires compared to a narrow-wheeled FIAT 500 :eater:

Very interesting video. I would guess there is a connection somewhere between the difference in turning radius that ties to the amount of vipers that are wrecked in spin-outs by new drivers:dunno:
