......there was no SRT10 section?

......How 'bout the old board format went everything was listed on one page, the old classifieds (where I found my new 2000)

......you'd drag the icon over a members name and you'd see what # they were (according to when you joined) I believe I was 187

......Thou I joined in 1999 you have me at a Oct. 2000 join date which you did when the board format changed

......things were a lot simpler in the "old" days :D

Yep. Been here since day1 . Something to be said for the single forum. Miss some of the old guys and REALLY tire of the acrimony that seeps in. Way too much griping about VCA and pissy posts against each other.

I would love to see the classifieds go to just 2 sections. Have a "Vipers for sale" and a "parts for sale" section (as far as anything Viper related). It's a pain to have to go though each section to look for anything.

Seems there were a lot more members who bought the Viper for the performance rather than the status.
.......^^this^^

I remember through the 80s I wanted a 427 Cobra but it just didn't make sense with the huge pricetags they had. I saw my first Viper in '94 and was instantly hooked, then they got the hardtop (I needed an RT for SoCal driving) and that was it. In 2000 I found a 2000 local in the classifieds. I was on a waiting list and after 3 months I was fed up, bought the 2000.

The first one I saw was a GenI and when I heard it I turned into a bookstore and started reading about it. As soon as I read 488cid, 335 tires and no auto tranny option I knew Dodge was serious and I wanted it.

A agree, my lust for 60s-era Cobras planted the seed in me........

SoCal, you old dinosaur you! Some Hisstory: Actually, the OLD BOARD began in 1995, as a message forum on the Car and Driver website. Several owners who frequented there, are still here. GTS Dean and several others... I hope they pipe in. We also had two 'anonymous' Team Viper members on that board.

When Jay Herbert and Doug Azzarito created this forum in 1997, we agreed to 'take down' the forums at Car and Driver and Road and Track, to drive the traffic here. The archives here reflect the earliest "test posts" after the wwitch was turned on in 1997.....and THIS dinosuar was one of the earliest posts....and the first sponsor commitment to Jay.

Ahhhh, the good ole days. miss'em. Too busy now to even enjoy my Viper. Funny, I thought things were supposed to slow down when you got older.

Since we are talking nostalgia here, how many can recall the first TV commercial featuring the Viper. It is what got me hooked on Dodge. The commercial featured 2 cars in the desert driving hard toward the camera. Both cars are unbelievably designed hot sports cars. The cars stop in a cloud of dust and out step the 2 drivers in full driving gear. One takes off the helmet to reveal beautiful model and the other reveals none other than Lee Iaccoca. Lee says something like "this is not your father's car company".One car was the new Dodge Stealth and the other the Viper prototype. Commercial first aired I believe in 1990. After that commercial had to have both cars (Stealth and Viper) which I thankfully still own today.
