How to find a Viper certified service department?

Is there any way to tell if a particular Dodge Dealer is a certified Viper service center? I can't find any way to tell other than calling them all and trusting them. I am looking for a Viper, and I may want to get it inspected at a Dodge dealer local to wherever I find one I am interested in.

Maybe this question has been asked before, didn't enter the right search terms perhaps...

In particular this time, I am looking around Maspeth NYC. But I may look in some other states as well. I am surprised you can't just search for them. Maybe you can?

Thanks!

Call Chuck Tator, the Viper Wizard. Not sure where you are in NY (and its a big state, I know I know) but he is and can probably advise you if he can't help you out personally

I am going to contact Chuck, I am close enough - for advice right now. Whatever I buy, I am going to bring it there anyway for initial service. Still would like to know how to find other dealers in other states. I am really paranoid and want a car checked out before I make the final purchase.

Thanks!

There is no real Viper training anymore (for now) so even if they have a certified Viper Tech from back when there were classes I would ask how many Vipers they see in the shop a year and gage your trust on traffic not a title. If they are a trusted place to have work done there should be locals that use and recommend them.

Chuck may not have dealer status but he is one of the few experienced experts on all things Viper and worth talking to. Chuck is the man to have it inspected, search service history, maintained, modded, etc. Your best bet for NY and beyond.

I called Chuck and got some very good feedback and advice... whatever I do, the car is coming to him for inspection and service, that's for sure.

As said, there is no list.

But asking here is normally a good start. Even some shops that list themselves as Viper savvy are not always....

this. when we get people call here they usually say "yes we have a Viper tech, and he owns one" that's normally enough for most people.

Definitely difficult to find one. I lucked out when an associate that I worked with told his son (who is a Dodge mechanic) that I had a Viper. His son told him that his shop (Dodge) does work on Vipers now and then. In fact, at that time they were working on a Viper that had sat in the owners garage for 4-5 years and had not been even started. I verified the name of the certified Viper mechanic and if I ever require warranty work, that's where I'll go. Only around 6 miles from my house too. Again, for me it boiled down to luck.
