I have a 2002 F/E with 22k,that I would love to supercharge, but I am concerned
about losing value because it will lose it's originality. Afer hitting 155mph this past weekend, all I wanted to do was to drive it up and drop it off at the Wizard .I need more! What would you guys do? By the way, if it wasn't an F/E I would have no problem doing the work.

I suppose if you're concerned about resale value, it may not be a good idea. However, if you didn't buy your car as an investment, but you bought it to drive and enjoy, you won't be disappointed with the blower.

My car was a low mileage, 2 owner car. Bone stock. Didn't even have K&N filters or smooth tubes. Still had the original tires from 1998. I had the car less than 90 days before I put the Roe blower on it. Best decision I've ever made. The car is MUCH more responsive now. It's quicker, it's faster and it's more fun to drive, in my opinion.

I'm taking the car to Performance by Joe on Friday to have him give it the tuning it deserves. I am just using a pretty standard Roe card with a little bit of tweaking. I'm quite certain that I'm leaving power on the table, which Joe will find.

If you're a driver, go with the supercharger. If you're an investor, leave the car alone. Personally, I have never worried much about resale, because I enjoy driving my cars too much.

Good point!!
And here's another one to consider: Your having the system professionally installed; That would be a bonus to anyone considering purchasing your car should you decide to sell it in the near future.

Have fun!

Sometimes I feel the same way. Our FEs are almost identical in mileage.

I am going to hold onto mine the way it is. But then my needs maybe different from yours and at my age with my skills/reflexes....all another 150 hp means to me...is a longer walk out of the woods after leaving the roadway.

Don't worry about the value of your car just drive it and have fun. I just put 20000mi on my SC Viper. If you don't like the Supercharger you can still resell easily the parts.

The question is not the market value of your car but the money that you have to pay for the supercharger's tuning and all the parts.

To start you can go with 5psi boost. Then if you like it you can upgrade your engin and put more boost.

Find a highly reliable and reputable tuner. Words don't count, reputation is the most important. In your area you have a very reputable tuner.

When you find your a tuner (likely Tator), negociate a deal for several tuning sessions. Something likes 9 hours tuning over 3 sessions, within one or two month intervalle. Installing a supercharger is nothing compared to the tuning sessions. The tuning sessions will make your Viper a perfect race and street car.

I bet you cant guess what my answer is!! Plus your close to Tators...it doesnt get any easier...If you have the coin do it...those Z06s will be chasing you down...Kerbeck is selling 100s of them in your backyard. Your FE can be brought back to stock in a day, and the Roe S/C will fetch a good price used...AL

You might as well at this stage. Hell, I think I am one of the only guys left without a supercharger or some heavy power additive. My car can then be sacrificed as the only slow original left in the club. I hate all you guys! Can you hear the jealous undertones?

Either Nitrous or a Blower, that is my opinion. Plus, even if you have a blower, some places will still work on your car under warranty but you didn't hear that from me.

Mafia,

Supercharging is not the only solution. You can have as much fun with a "stock looking viper". Once you are supercharged you fall in the 10.0-12.0 category in drag races. Guess what: everybody runs in the low 10.0 sec. No chance that you win. Now the stock looking viper will hit easily 12.0 which is the street category where you can win easier.

Rockers, Vec2, no cats, you just gained 60hp with 1800$ and you are in the very low 12.0 sec !

High HP numbers are good to impress women in bars but are not enough to win.
Make your viper a reliable winner and get a bottle of ******, that will make women happier.

If you want an investment, look to the stockmarket or pay off your house. It may take 30 years or more for any car of quality to hit collector value of any worth. You could die waiting not having enjoyed your Viper at a younger age. :( You can take excellent care of a Viper and still modify it.
As for myself, money limits me at the moment but I have long term plans for a second for the track.

With 22k on the clock you have already past the magic mark for loosing value (at least for the next 10 years or so). Put the blower on it and you will probably never want to sell it anyway. :2tu:

Sn8kbyT,

For what it's worth, I just recently had my 93 Snake converted... Paxton Supercharger (installed 2 months ago) 551 RWHP & 566 Torque.

I had the same concerns as you. However, I just could not live with a new Z06 or Fort GT leaving me in their dust. I am an orginial owner and for 10 plus years, few performance cars could out race the Snake. Things have changed!!!..and so have I.

I don't look back, only wish I had done it sooner...what a rush!!! I have not had one single problem with the Paxton. I'm sure the same is true for the Roe Superchargers.

If you decide on a Supercharger, it's vital to find a Tuner who is highly skilled in the installation and set up.

Go for the Supercharger...best thing since sliced bread. You just don't know whats lurking out there.

Hey john, that's where the problem lies.I make my real money in the market,so i view everything I do as an investment.I know the right thing to do is to leave it alone with the Corsa exhaust, the random tech hi-flows,tubes and filters, but I love flying [driving I mean] so I need more! very torn.... Superchargers are fast......

but I would highly recommend the Twin Turbo

it will not be Loud and remain as stock until you push the Gas.

You mentioned that if it wasn't a FE you would do it. Not to be a **** but the FE's don't command a higher price in the market than any other 02's. Mileage, condition and color are usually what drive demand. The 01 Sapphire is a great example, much less made than the 360 FE's made.

If you want to do it I would go ahead. You can always pull it off.

I disagree, they do command a higher price. If you want to talk rare color's, how's this, 360 vipers in total of any generation with that color scheme, and they are a tribute to the GTS.

Half that number was made for the 01 Sapphire/stripes combo. Only 50 Silver/Blue striped cars and 100 GTS/R's. There are several rarer color combo's than Red/White.

Not trying to offend just citing that they do not go for more than a similiar mileage 2002. I would still supercharge the car if that is what he wants. We are about 25 years out from a collectability issue.

No offense taken, I still disagree with your opion on current value. I see FE's selling slightly higher than other 02's. I do agree we are years away from it mattering much, it's all speculation.

Let's face it, unless you have a very low mileage ****** Blue/White, there is no clamor for any particular color or year. It's all about condition, mileage and how UN molested it is.

Damn you Wizzard! No mods on both cars until after the rematch. I will drop 20 pounds off the waistline just to get that little extra. Deviled eggs are out for me but till then I suggest you eat a dozen a day with extra mayo! Also supersize the fastfoods at every chance. Last thing have some donuts and icecream before bed. I'll have a much better shot if your driving at 350 lbs. As a matter a fact I'm going to order you some Domino's right now, hope your hungry.
