The Thursday before Speedfest. Limited number of cars, lots of the racers getting in practice. Should be my first time with the new car.....:drive::drive::drive:

Yes....it's the Thursday before the event. 5 twenty minute sessions per class. Not sure how many classes. It is being put on the local PCA but it's most likely a one time deal for that track.

Minimum requirements are to have a Time Trial License (continuous lapping in traffic with various classes of cars) from a recognized sanctioning body or a higher level race license.

I'm hopefully goint to be there. working out the last few details for myself.

not as fast as willowsprings which doesn't have any walls except on pit lane.

Come on out...ask SunDiego if you can borrow a car

It's not a fast track...very tight and hard to pass. Not a great track for Vipers. I raced my Nascar Cup car (42) there last year on Saturday and Sunday. The motor swallowed a valve and is now junk. If I can get another one in I will be back with the Historic Stock Cars this year!

Are you running? Someone just signed up with a vintage nascar.

Don't race your Viper unless you got a baffeled oil pan or a dry sump system. Could be you'll be pullin' a motor (just like me) if you don't have them and then go racing.

I'll be on street tires and taking it easy so the g loads will be very low. Also, I thought the Gen 4 had a swing arm pick up...am I mistaken?

My 2000 has baffles (one of Dave's kits)

Carl,

08 / 09 cars are fine and have the latest and greatest swing arm oil pickup and revised pan along with a better oil pump. Do install 15w50 Mobil 1 if you plan to track your car.

I've pulled sustained 1.35 G's in my ACR at 130 mph on Hoosiers - no oiling issues whatsoever. Wouldn't try that in a 03 - 06 car without the swing arm oil pick up and pan.

As for this track, we've driven it and it's ******* tires. I recommend you avoid the temptation to go as fast as you are capable of or you will melt your PS2's.

So Cal Club plans to attend and watch the racing on Sunday this year. SRT is not sponsoring, so we won't be able to do any sedan laps as of right now.

Be careful.

yeah..I ran a couple of the parade laps on some used up toyos or really old PS1, I forget.

I hope to run OTR the week before to get use to this car. Glad to hear about the oil pick up...I thought that was the case but then got a little worried.

BTW...I went and look at my old data. Looks like the ACR downforce is worth about .15G peak in the corners over my gen2....dang...that's significant.

I'll have to break off the ring rust and get used to the steet tires...but hopefully get back in the saddle again...

Track tip.

From year to year the track surface at Coronado changes. Some years lots of small stones are kicked up from the track. They can pock mark the front of the cars pretty quickly.

Have some consideration to tape up vulnerable areas, and if you find yourself right behind a car with stickey tires, leave yourself just a bit of space or drift just off to the side.

See you at the track.

The runway where they set up the track is immense but the way they lay out the track sure makes it tight. There are some sharp turns and lots of cones and tires; the esses are just tire walls set up and there's barely room for two stock cars and they can really do a number on the car! The front straight lets you wind out but it ain't the CA Speedway or Willow Springs.
Paul is right....dirty track but if you guys run on Thursday you'll clean it up a little for us.....
