In Canada we still have some freedom. We can buy beer at the track. Ladies are walking between the cars and sell beer. Now we have a journalist that managed to rent the airport for a half day to hold a 200 mph club race .... He even managed to find an insurance to protect himself ! So the race will take place on August 19th. Guess what I am registered. I need some advise for this race.

What it takes to hit 200mph with a 2006 coupe ?
I was thinking about borrowing the front wheels of a friend and fit them in the rear so I will reduce the drag due to the rear tires. I don't have time to drop the suspension.

Any other advise to increase my top speed ?

Any advise on how should I slow down from that speed ?

I almost thought this sounded kick ass,but closed to the public sounds weak...very very weak. I'm sure it's probably insurance related......bummer for anyone who wants to run or watch. Have fun, I hope you hit it.:drive:

Wow, hope its a big strip. It takes a long time to get to 200 mph. You cover alot of ground quick. Getting to 1160 is easy, its the last bit that is hard. I really hope you guys have enough room and good markings on where to start braking.

I honestly wouldnt wnat to borrow skinnies for the rear. At that speed you want your suspension and the car working for you the way its designed. Changing wheels/tires will affect braking and handling. Maybe not by a ton, but at the speeds your attempting, there is no room for error. Have fun and good luck.

I agree keep it stock and safe!! :2tu: Check your pm I sent you one! Good Luck! :drive::drive::drive:
For slowing down I would use your brakes!:omg:
Seriously I would start by backing off the gas slowly and smoothly, then braking slowly and smoothly EVERYTHING SMOOTHLY DO NOT DO ANYTHING FAST!
SMOOTH AND STEADY IS THE SAFEST!
DOWN SHIFTING WHEN RPM ARE BELOW 3000 TO HELP WITH SLOWING THE CAR.
REMEMBER TO THINK AND ACT SMOOTH

Best quick mph would be to fold in your mirrors, tape all the seams, and if it is a cool day, maybe close off a bit of your intake.

Vipers just barely reach 200 mph stock. A slight downhill with a bit of tailwind might just do it.

Do not change your tires. Have them poperly inflated.

Take out anything heavy.

Your Viper will stop pretty easily from 200 mph. If you have abs, just stomp them. If not, beware of flat spotting your fronts.

Your wing will be a problem. Remove it if you can.

Since you are in Canada, maybe join in the 200 KPH club. Much much easier : >)

Dont stomp on anything. :omg: Upsetting the balance of the car at high speed is not going to be good for you! :omg: Yes the wing and splitter will slow the car a-lot 20 to 30 mph. You best let me take your place. Everyone knows Green is faster! :2tu:

Remove passenger seat? Not a bad idea IMO! Gas, only fill enough for your run each time! At WOT I get about 7MPG. At somewhere around 8 lbs. per gallon save 80 lbs or more.

An enima the day before might help too....but I think that's REALLY ******** to be trying to save weight by doing that......although I've heard rumors from tv or a movie that a man has 8 lbs of undigested meat in his colon in his 40's.

Aaron

Maudite Marde! Too Bad!
It would have been fun to watch
Empty your windshield washer fluid, glove box, CD's maybe 2 to 5 pounds there. Increase tire pressure a bit for less rolling resistance.

Dear Jeff,

I thought I was doing good getting down to 190, from about 212 to start the year....but I am positive I can't weigh 163 again. The lighter you are, the faster you'll go! I hope you both partake and do the new Viper proud!!

Regards,
Aaron

Thanks Aaron, good job on the weight loss yourself! :2tu: I wish I could go but no one is getting back to me! HINT HINT! I also put on two piece rotors (eurotech)loosing another 36 lbs rotational mass. Light weight Copperhead wheels too another 45 lbs rotational mass gone. Hell I weigh less than the ACR :D because they have the wing and splitter. Somebody help, cut me loose I want to FLY!! :omg: Ok, OK, I am back now! Sometimes I just cant help myself! (Just a little Jeff humor)

Remove wiper blades. Put duct tape on the hood seams. Fold in the mirrors as close to the body as possible(removal is better).

Pressure your tires harder than normal. Clean the bugs off.

Have fun. Is this a ZR Auto event? I did a track test for them a couple off weeks ago in a 1000hp Galardo (Heffner). The test will be published in Modified Luxury Exotics. If it is ZR there'll be at least 1 Enzo (probably 2), a 1000hp Gallardo (maybe 3), an F-40, a twin supercharged Novitec F-430 and a Maseratti MC-12. It's fast company!

Have fun and good luck.

If that is the situation I will have to bring my friends SALEENE I went on a wine tasting tour this weekend, the SNAKES and GRAPES Run around Seneca Lake mid state NY. No photos (at work now) I will send one when I get home. This guy has two vipers, one a twin turbo Vert, and this Wild Saleene top speed of 240MPH. He has only been to 180 MPH just not enough room to go faster safely around here. I would love to be there!

So finally after having waited 2 years for this event to take place we will like run on May 9th.
I just paid for the event ! We are 16 guys registered so far.

Actually we have to hit 300 km/h which is just 188 mph on a 2mi long runway. We have 1.2mi for the run and 0.8mi to slow down. This is very tight.

The Mirabel airport's 2mi runway is rented, Insurance is done, local authority has no objection, my friend Trooper Stephane will check the top speed with his laser gun.

My plan:
- Inflate tires to 35psi
- Remove mirrors
- Remove wiper blades
- Remove air filter
- Seal the hood

Is this just a straight run or will you be entering the stretch from a turn...that's key to hitting 188 or whatever.....your entry speed is everything!!!....from just a standing start on a stright it's gonna be very difficult with only a mile pont 2 but I may be wrong....

I don't know if spectators are welcome close to the race. You have to call ICAR.
The race takes place in the secured zone of the airport. We need some sort of ****** all the time we are on the runway.

It was really difficult to organize this race. We are 16 paid participants .... And it is very expensive.

We start on a straight line. We should have started like some airplanes from the button of the turn ...

no way you'll be able to hit 188 from a standstill on a 2 mile straight and still be able to stop....world class driving experience has a 200 mph club that runs on a 2 mile straight but you come on to the straight thru a double apex turn.....even then many don't reach 200 before they have to brake....

regardless it should be a blast!

I think that you will need a non overdrive fifth gear and at least 840 HP or thereabouts to reach 200 in the standing mile. And that is with proper weather conditions. It takes alot of power to cut through the air as your speed gets up there. Recently, a lowered and modded Gen IV coupe, which has a better drag coefficient than a Gen II coupe, producing 665 HP at the flywheel, using lower diameter drag radials in the back and Toyos in the front with a 20 MPH tail wind did 190 MPH at the Texas mile. It was an unusally good result. The best stock Gen IV standing mile run I have read about is Ritchie's at 174 MPH.
