to someone who will.

I ran into a guy today that had a 2000 gts with only 2000 miles on it.

He is into buying cars for future profits and could care less about driving them.
He took the viper out today to "make sure it still ran". Went around the block and right back to storage.

For me it was like watching a dog go back to the pound after breaking free for a few minutes. The car actually looked sad as he covered it up (without wiping it down or washing by the way)!

Ya I know it's his car to do with it what he wants and blah,blah,blah.

It just seems like such a waste to have a thoroughbred locked away.

These cars were meant to be driven. Now I am not saying beat the snot out of it like its a rental, but a least get it out to stretch its legs.

That car needs to roam.......

Sad. I put 2,707 miles on my '06 coupe in one road trip two weeks ago including a track day at Firebird Raceway near Scottsdale. Most fun I've had behind the wheel in as long as I can remember.

plenty of vipers out there with < 10,000 miles that are over 10 years old meaning less then 1000 miles a year which is still almost the same as this guy sadly

Sad to say but all of us driving many miles and having great times is helping him and his goal....But it's his loss to not drive the one of a kind experience that is VIPER!

i used to b like that--- didnt want to rack up miles on my zr1,s-- now i cant seem to put enough on my viper- they r too much money and fun to let sit-- i think its something i grew out of thank goodness...

It's a 2000 GTS? With that low of miles on it maybe he could trade it straight across for a modified GTS? Of a collectable ACR that is heavily modified (but can be returned to stock and the blower, brakes, rotors etc could be resold for $12,000 and he'd have a collectable Viper?

Not mine of course, but they did make 24 others just like mine.

I have to agree. A parked Viper is just bragging rights. I like to go out in the world and spank Mercedes, Ferraris, Porsches and even other Vipers for fun.

Guy down the road from me said that he doesn't like car racing as it "pollutes his world and the idiots that come to watch are the real polluters". He could see the cloud of noxious gases above the traffic jam he had to wait in, haha. My question is, "Who's the idiot?" Lol.

Anyone that thinks the viper is a "collector" piece is crazy. It's not rare, nobody cares about weird color combo's.

It has potential to make money one day . Not anytime soon but I am glad there are guys like this . Then we have Vipers to buy down the road when we wear ours out from enjoyment .

I used to buy and save"as i call it" for the next guy. Now i just drive as much as i can. Why the heck even own it if you cant enjoy it. But i still park it way far away from other cars

He should have bought a Ford GT.
If there is no market they are not collectable.
The resale market for Vipers is this small.

The appreciation from the ownership is in the fun of driving it! IMO I believe that Vipers are alot like most high end sports cars. They will drop to a point and never go lower if they are a clean car regardless of miles (to a point). That is with the exception of a few rare models and colors. :dunno:

Right now a low milage GTS isnt worth much more than any regular GTS....But what about in just as little as 10 years. I truly belieave that by 2021 a 1996 GTS with low milage is gonna be worth a pretty penny. Im thinking 50K...

How many GTS's are there in the world again????

I would never do what this guy is doing but some people think about their kids ect...

What a great treasure to pass on to your son for his 30th birthday. A low milage GTS Viper..

Not saying i would do it as I love to drive mine..But who kinows what the motivation is

The only person he is really doing a favor is the person that eventually buys it! Just recently their was a 96 or 97 B/W GTS on here with 1800 miles for sale, at the end of the day how much was that car's value enhanced b/c it didn't have 30k on it, a debatable question for sure but even if it's 10k I personally would have much rather enjoyed the car for the last 14 years, as I said the real winner is the new owner!! Now if the plan is to send it to Barrett-Jackson with his grandson in the year 2040 and he really isn't a car guy then I get it! Does anyone have an opinion on the value vs. a car with let's say 25k miles on her?

Considering that it was 70K new and you housed, insured and maintained it for 35 years that's a great investment.
