Hey guys,

Looking to lower my '02 RT/10 to eat up the gap between tires and fender. Recommendations??

JonB, you reading this??? What do you have?

I read about the track issues, but if and when she ever makes it out on track, it will be the driving Miss Daisy class. We use it as a Sunday driver...ok, Saturday also...well, we drive it whenever we possibly can, but we don't drive it too hard.

Thanks in advance to everyone for your input.

Don't do it. Go for bigger rims and shorter tires.... Great look with no curb/driveway rubs. If you don't track it don't slam it.

(Well, that's my first take)...

My .02

Not looking to slam it, just lower it about an inch. Changing the wheels and tires is not an option...can't afford to do that.

I'm kinda where Jason is, not looking to replace wheels/tires, but might be interested in lowering it a little...1" sounds about right.:headbang:

I have seen posts about spacers, but never really looked into it, like cost, what's involved in actually installing them, any downsides, etc.:dunno:

My car is lowered with Eibach springs, no complaints at all here. Your most affordable options are spring caps, springs, or spring caps and springs. Depending on how low you want to go.

I just bought some lowering caps from JonB. Installed the front last night. Hope to install the rears tonight. Will take some pictures and show you the difference when all done. I think they will lower it around .66-.77". :headbang:

ALL OVER
SEARCH FEATURE
Almost every question you can think of has already been asked and answered! In some cases, the information may be out of date and a new thread will be needed, but in many cases, an answer to your question may be under 10 seconds away!

The VCA Web Forums has a search feature very similar to web search engines like Google. By typing in a few words, it will search all old posts since the website was created to find words matching what you typed in. Be mindful though, the more words you type the fewer results you will get as it will try to find posts only with all of the words you types. In saying that as well, by using words like “The” and “It” you will get hundreds if not thousands of threads. I might suggest sticking to main words. Also try to avoid year specific searches. It will block out a lot of good info. For example:

“What is the best exhaust system for my 2006”

It might be better as:

“best exhaust”

To do a search, click on Search located in the center of the Directional Information Toolbar. If you are wanting a quick overall search, just type in the words in the search box. For this example, we will go with an Advanced Search as you can further clarify your search parameters.

Once you have clicked on Search, click Advanced Search located under the Quick Search field.

Type in the key words you want to search for. Once you have typed in your key words, click on the drop down arrow on the Search All Open Forums tab located on the lower right side of the Search page if you would like to clarify your search. Choose a specific forums you would like the question searched under. In some cases this is not needed but if you are wanting the best exhaust for your 2008, you will not want the threads from the 1992 cars. This feature helps to cut down on the amount of non-applicable information that will be presented to you. Do remember though, by selecting the one section you are narrowing down the number of places the search will look. If there was a thread in the Racing section, and you only selected the SRT section, you will not see that information. This menu can be useful if used correctly.

Once complete, click Search and see your answers! Feel free to play, there is no limit to the amount of searches you can do!

Plum,

If you were sincerely concerned with the use of the search feature here, you'd make the "SEARCH FEATURE" text into an actual link to the "search feature". That extra step can kill.

Sheesh!

You may not consider that single inch to be "slammed", but in addition to the look (much better) it will significantly change your ability to avoid serious chin scrapes and driveway access (much worse).

An inch is actually alot, depending on your wheel/tire combination. I actually raised mine back up about a half inch out of sheer practicality.....when you push a crumpled up piece of paper along the street (rather than drive over it) it gets silly. :)

Jason, et al, Just saw this thread..... COST FACTORS ASIDE...COSMETICS ASIDE.......remember that lowering the car with caps and/or eibachs provides a better-handling car with a lower center of gravity. Eibachs add a progressive (improved) spring. And the OE Konis are rebound-adjustable while changing to Eibachs.

---------

Raising the C.G. on bigger, heavier wheels and taller tires, can diminish the handling somewhat.

I gave ya an idea of what it'd look like if you did lower it in your other thread. Here is a pic from what I posted.

Thanks JMills, the pictures will be helpful. Sounds like that would be the route that I consider, as I also think an inch might be too much, especially up where I am.

Springs are out of the question for me due to cost.

Thanks!

Remember if you go to a taller tire and/or wheel in the rear you are also changing your rear gear ratio. Instead of 6th gear being .5 now it may be like .4 or something to that effect

Just got done with mine. After you install them you will need to take it for a spin to let the springs settle in. I think the caps are the way to go. I'll take some pictures tomorrow if it does not rain and post them. Love the look!!

Hey Mike, that looks great. Mine is the same height. I don't think it needs to be any lower. Did not drive the viper today so I will have to take pictures of it tomorrow. Why did you add wheel spacers?

I think it Looks a lot better with the wheel spacers :).
They are very common here in Europe.

It also adds a noticeable gap between the brake rotor and wheel.
