I start my '96 GTS and while idling, the doors will lock by themselves and the unlock button inside the door will not work. Fortunately, I left the windows open and was able to reach in and hit the unlock button the key fob, which did unlock the doors. It's repeatable - does it every time and I now know not to put the windows up (or close the door if possible). Anyone seen this issue/feature/problem before?

Bet causes by vibrations and something on the switch broken loose or something is wrong with the EEM or an input to it has that auto locks the doors after 5 to 8mph and the LED light will turn off or the ignition key switch lost CCD communication.

When this happens, is the LED off or still on?

The lock switches and open button and door handle are fed by fuse 14 (10A). So I would rule out wiring issue at the moment until you do more tests as the fuse would have blown if they shorted to ground as they are 12V hot signal inputs not the short to ground inputs.

Check the lock switch on the passenger side too. The switches are wired in parallel feeding one input to the EEM so if that one doesn't work too you need to check input to the EEM.

A little more background, when the doors lock, the theft system arms (red light on dash turns on). It's happened multiple times in a row - but trying to reproduce it after my initial post here, and now I can't.

I'll try a few more times over the weekend.

Something similar happened to me, and I replaced my car battery and fob battery, and that fixed it.

Sorry should have been more clear, the LED on the door handle.
