What town in Illinois?? My daughter and granddaughter live in E. Alton. I lived in Alton for 10 years before moving to Tx. I was just up there in my Viper in May!

I think my GTS is cursed!

It doesn't look that bad in the pic, but the scratches are too deep to sand out and repaint, I think. You also can see where I had to cut off about 1/2" from the bottom lip (it was shredded) and epoxy the remaining piece back in place. Looks like hell!

I think my GTS is cursed!

When I bought the car, the coolant looked new and tested good. Not much else to renew since I have already replaced the thermostat, water pump, radiator and some of the hoses.

I think my GTS is cursed!

About 2 months ago my car started to run hot. I replaced the radiator, thermostat and water pump. After a while, I noticed a little coolant pooling just in front of the thermostat housing. ordered gaskets to fix that and go on with life. Still waiting for parts,I was driving into town and had a...

    Oh, joy!!

Didn't get home till about 8:30 last night and the Vette is on the lift right now. I only have a 2 bay shop. I'll get the GTS up on the lift tonight and have a good look. I haven't had an insurance claim for about 12 years, so I think this might just have to be my next. Crap!

    Oh, joy!!

It scarred up the bottom of the front fascia pretty badly and ripped the lower lip almost completely off. Looks like my Christmas present to myself will be a new fascia. There's about $2500 I didn't really want to spend right now. Oh well. (sigh) The company I work for has about 30 semi trucks...

    Oh, joy!!

Well, life just got worse!! On my way to a dinner date last night cruising I-30 in Fort Worth in the middle lane with a car on both sides and one behind and lo and behold------a piece of a blown out truck tire right in the middle of my lane. DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!

    Oh, joy!!

When I took my GTS apart last month to correct a temperature issue, I found silicone on the thermostat housing gasket. I just mistakenly thought the last person in there put it in without knowing not to. WRONG! I got everything back together with new thermostat, radiator and water pump and when...

    Torque Specs on Spring Struts

100 lbs/ft of torque and yes, the suspension needs to be loaded prior to tightening the mounting bolts. At least that's what the service manual for my 02 GTS says.

Well, I'm back on the road with new radiator, water pump, thermostat, heater hoses and fresh coolant. Dropped my running temperature by about 30-40 degrees. Wo-hoo!!!

Well, as it turns out--I need a radiator too. Damn it!!! 4 week wait for one from RSI. Pulled mine this morning to backflush it and there is a small leak on the bottom front of the driver's side end tank. I was hoping to be able to put her back on the road this weekend.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this. I think I'll get the 180 like I originally considered. I don't feel like digging back in there if I don't have to. I'm still wondering how I'm going to get the intake back on by myself. I only have two hands. Seems like I need four!

Went by RSI at lunch and talked to Will. He suggested I start by replacing the thermostat. He said he has seen them fail gradually. I have a 195 on order but am going to get a 170 from Will and send the other back. I'm also going to take the rad out and flush it to see if I get any crud out...

Yeah, the overflow tank level was where it should be for the car temp. Where did you get your new rad? I can't seem to find one. I contacted DeWitts about making me one. I have one of their aluminum direct fit rads in my Vette and it fit and works excellently! They estimated ball park $600 for a...

The relays are working properly and the gauge temp matches what the service manual says are the fan turn on temps. I found a water pump at Rock Auto so that, a new thermostat, bottom heater hose and related gaskets are on order. Can't seem to find the top (from the water pump to the metal tube...

Well, my 2002 GTS has been running steadily hotter the last few months and I've been having some trouble with the radiator fan circuit. The car has been running around 220-230 all the time, even when it's only about 86 degrees out. The last couple days it wants to get up to almost 240 just...
