    Exhaust Manifold Differences

I hacked and bent and cut my Gen.II heat shields to fit over my Jet Hot coated Archer Racing headers. Makes it look slmost like stock, coated headers.

Preparing my Viper for the track...??

Jon B at partsrack.com is one of the sources for the heat shield kit. I prefer this one because it is made from a flexible material, easy to install, last several seasons. And all the V-TEN Racing team members use it!

anyone leave their battery tender on when car is covered?

Re: What\'s the best battery tender? Yes Yes Yes The charge in the battery begins to diminish as soon as the car is started. Idle through the pits, idle over to the staging area & shut off. Start engine again, and idle to either the hot pits, or another line-up area. Then track time. Like I...

anyone leave their battery tender on when car is covered?

Re: What\'s the best battery tender? I always want a full battery charge before I go on track. I guess I am superstitious like that about some things. Sometime, when I get back to the pits, and connect the battery tender, it immediately goes to the green light - fully charged. Sometimes not!

    Simpson 5-point advise?

With a stock seat, definately the 6 Pts. so you will not submarine when breaking. I even prefer the 6 Pts, when I have the race seat installed. But, the 5 Pts are much easier to live with.

Preparing my Viper for the track...??

Another little item I learned the hard way, the heat shield kit for the ball joints, tie rod joints, and sway bar joints. It's cheap and keeps all the rubber dust shield from melting and puking grease everywhere. Also, Autoform roll bar, TeamTech 6 pt. Harnesses, and Stoptech Big Brake kit. Call...

    Exhaust Manifold Differences

Get the heat shields too? You will need them or the fire-proof sleeve for your sparkplug wires. Also, the heat shields direct some of the heat down, out of the engine compartment.

Dynatech PowerCAT High Flow Cats ???

Yes, you can make those work. No experience on a Viper, but I know some Mustangers that made their own copy of a Basanni x-Pipe with these cats. They ended up saving a whopping $100 bucks or so. It still works fine and they made similar HP with it. It cost them an entire day of running around...

Tricks to getting off band clamp at manifold to cat???

Oh yeah, if you are having a hard time prying the inner clamps, just knock the fire out of it with a hammer. Really, that is sometimes the easiest way to get them to loosen-up!

Tricks to getting off band clamp at manifold to cat???

The inner rings are stuck. The outer ring holds and clamps down onto the inner rings. The inner rings, there are 3 or 4, actually hold(clamp) the flex pipe and manifold together. If you had a good, leak-proof seal, the inner clamps will be stuck. You can very gently pry each inner clamp away...

    Driver side door creaking?

You do need to keep the hinges lubed to keep from wearing out prematurely. Get them lubed-up real good, if your pop continues, go to dealer.

    Exhaust Manifold Differences

My stock collectors/elbows were 2.5" on my 01. The adapters I got from Jon B. at partsrack.com fit perfect, even though the high-flow cats were 3" I have a set of 01 tubular headers for sale, but they don't do a lot except weigh less than the cast manifolds.

The best high flow cats for my new B+B exhaust????

Also, Jon B at partsrack.com has Random Tech high-flow cats in 2.5" and 3" and the adapters. I have the 3". At first, I had them welded to the optional 2.5" S.S. adapters you get from Jon B. The adapters were then welded to the stock elbows, connected to stock tube headers. Now, I have B&B...

The problems with the B & M Ripper shifters were with the few prototypes they produced many, many years ago. The problems were corrected, and they have not had a problem since. Best shifter out there - the SVSi shifter has the best reputation amongst all the road racers I know, and several...
