I'm trying to find a discrete area to mount a satellite antenna.
Has anyone tried mounting one under the driver side "speaker grill" on the hood? I figure it would be inconspicuous but I wonder if the mettalic mesh of the grill would cause interference.
Any good alternative locations?
Thanks SapphireGTS. I'm probably going to do what you did in the long run. What do the 2 rca cables connect?

Tweeter removal:
Start by removing the door speaker. Three screws hold both the grill and the speaker. The wire connecting the speaker has a snap connector which is easily...
I removed the (rear) subwoofer on my 02 RT/10. The speaker impedance is 6 ohms according to the stamp on the back of it.
Does anyone know if the rear channels on the amp are 4 ohm stable (ie. does a replacement need to be 6+ ohms)?
Also, to get the best sound, should a crossover be installed...
I was fishing around in the trunk of my 02 RT/10 to pull out the factory amp and I found a 5'6" fiberglass rod in the back of the trunk. It is black, 1/4" diameter made of fiberglass or carbon fiber with rubber endcaps on either end. It was bent, with it's arch hooked in with the electrical...
Re: Install crossover on new tweeter & door speaker?
Don't know yet. I want to see if switching out the paper speakers in the doors makes a noticeable difference (with the roof off at commuting speeds).
If it improves, I'll probably swap out the amp, head unit and the woofer. My better...
You're right. There is a capacitor on the lead immediately before the tweeter.
I guess I should delete the capacitor and install the crossover?
The crossover also has overload protection in it (although little risk of that happening with the OEM Alpine AMP :D ).
Thx
The speakers are Rockford Fosgates (FNX2614U).
I would have thought the existing speakers would require it but unless the wiring diagram is inaccurate both speakers are fed with the same feed without any sort of cross over.
Thoughts?
I am going to be replacing both the tweeters and door speakers next weekend in my 02 RT/10. Looking at the wiring diagram, it looks like both the tweeter and door speaker have the same feed from the amp (tweeter is a simple splice off of the door speaker).
The speakers I ordered come with a...
I'm no expert but over and under filling appear to be the biggest issues encountered with oil changes. A stock 02 takes 10 quarts (some other model years take less).
Raising the car can be a pain if you don't have a low profile jack. There is a good one sold at Harbor Freight with a 3.5 inch...
I'd get rid of them. The windshield is so low to begin with that the sun is rarely low enough to be simultaneously below the windshield line and in your line of sight.
I can't think of an instance when I have ever used mine (other than to hold my CD case).
Thanks for all the tips.
I have contacted a company that laser cuts plastics of various kinds including plexi, poly, lexan and so forth. They said they could do it relatively inexpensively but they need to see a drawing before they could quote.
I am going to use my broken one this weekend as...
You know, I thought the same thing -- there was no kind of ID stamp on it denoting tempered glass or security glass (not to say that yours is not plexi).
I thought of the plexiglas angle too. I'm going to see if I can find a local shop that could do it.
I'm sure the plexiglas is good for at least 10HP in cold weather. LOL
I was doing my routine washing of the Viper this weekend. I was waiting for the second coat of Zaino to cure so I pulled out the rear window to wash off a few fingerprints and rain-x it. After polishing it, I put it away in its protective sleave and leaned it against the wall.
Turned my back...
Been looking at alot of threads on repairing paint imperfections... came to the conclusion that 3M makes some of the best compounding and glazing products.
Anyway, wanted to let you know that the on-line 3M store has a free shipping promotion which makes a big difference on low ticket items...
