    DRB III Reverse Engineering Project

Depends where you are measuring them. Out of the sensor itself they are 5V, but out of the splitter box they are 12V. There is an RS232 converter chip in the splitter box though, which is what accounts for the change. So you can talk to the sensors directly via something like an Arduino or...

    DRB III Reverse Engineering Project

Definitely a more elegant solution than what I put together, but also pretty pricy for my little DIY project. I looked at trying to build a logic analyzer with something like a Raspberry Pi, but the main issue with that is just the voltage level limitations of the Pi. You could do a level...

WTB- 3D Viper GTS wall art

Anyone have a picture of one of these? I'm just really curious what they actually look like now after hearing about them.

    *** Lockout

I had heard rumors that it sounded like the same problems that happened here several years ago were just repeating themselves there, but they were just that, rumors. Regardless we're happy to offer what we can here. Generally speaking I think the Viper landscape is just kind of difficult in...

I believe the wire colors should be white, pink, orange with a dark blue stripe, light blue, and black (if I remember the coding the manual uses). I think three of those wires are only for the hall sensor though (the three smaller gauge ones of pink, orange, and black). I'm thinking the motor...

    2008 Vert Differntial Issue?

Does it do it all the time regardless of outside temperature or component temperature? I know mine will make some pretty gnarly crunching noises when it's super cold outside and I'm navigating parking lots or something like that for instance, but it will go away pretty quickly once I've gone...

    Clutch Pedal Linkage Just Broke

The "birdcage" clip is notorious for failing (mine did). Chrysler used 2 different clutch attaching clips during Viper production. The good one is the metal clip and nylon bushing: Good to know, thanks! I'll have to check mine out one of these days with all the miles I've got on my car.

    Best clutch brand?

For a stock application it's typically hard to beat the stock parts for value. I put an LUK back in my gen 3 when I changed mine a few years back and have been happy enough. I've since bumped up my power level a bit more with a cam, but it seems to hold it fine. If you're going crazy with...

    Sketchy freeway driving

Tracking with ruts on the freeway is pretty much par for the course with any Viper. The wide tires have a lot to do with that from what I understand, but the vague steering does sound like an issue. Alignments can do a lot to make a car feel different as well. Doesn't take much to make a car...

    Dashboard removal gen 3

I did a big write-up on it down in the gen 3/4 forums a while back when I was trying to get at my HVAC servos: https://www.viperclub.org/vca/threads/the-great-blend-door-teardown-with-pics.674644/. The windshield can stay in. Actually pretty straightforward to remove, just several plugs to...

    Driver window

Yeah, that's straight out of the service manual. That thing it worth its weight in gold. It is extremely well written and does a great job of explaining both how the systems work and how to diagnose them. It does lean on the DRB III dealer computer a fair amount, but has a lot of really good...

    Clutch Pedal Linkage Just Broke

Glad you managed to find one at a dealer. I recognized the "cage" sort of clip that holds things on. It's a weird one because it doesn't really connect the pedal and linkage so much as just hold the cross bolt in place. Shouldn't really see that much stress I wouldn't think, wonder why it let go.

Guessing you might already have these, but if not here are the schematics for the whole window system: Here's the section out of the service manual for testing and diagnosis as well:

max hp for 3rd gen viper engine?

I think the biggest hp Vipers out there are somewhere in the 3-4000 hp range lately. Built correctly I'm pretty sure it can take it, but as with any extra high hp build it's usually more a question of "how long" it puts up with it and how often you might have to change parts out. Viper...

When you say wires in the door checked okay for continuity, I assume you mean between the motor and the BCM (basically through the door joint)? Might be a weird thought, but have you tried operating the switch with the door open as well as closed? I suppose there is always a slim chance that...

2004 Viper w/ custom Runge body on Jay Leno’s Garage

Interesting. I saw the thumbnail for that video before but never realized it was built on a Viper chassis. I thought it was 100% custom from the description. I'll have to check that out.

Torque Spec Request, Power Steering Pump Discharge

Just double checked the service manual out of curiosity, but no mention of the relief valve assembly. It does have numbers for the other tube nuts in the system though. The cooler lines it says 11 ft-lbs and all other tube nuts it has 21. I agree with Dan though, they are o-ring fittings, so...

    Powder coat brake calipers

I think when done well it's a nice accent. Gives a little more visual interest and sets them off. Works better on a nice car like the Viper as well compared to your average Honda Civic.

    New Owner ‘05 Tune up

A lot of people have good luck with a bottle of Techron to help clean up the fuel system. I think it's cheap enough and shouldn't hurt anything to give it a go. I think some people have also talked about the IAC sticking from time to time. I think it would tend to cause an idle hang more than...

    Odometer Lighting

I put LEDs in my car several years back and have found them to be a bit finicky at times. I also think I have more vibration in my car than typical due to the cam and poly mounts though, so that likely doesn't help them any. I've had one or two lights around the gauges not always work. Not...

    My Detailing Maintenance Routine

Very nice! I've used Collinite 645 (I think that was the particular blend at least) as a wax in the past with really good results as well. Really makes the car bead water and shine, but doesn't really address any pre-existing issues like scratches or swirls. I've always talked about taking my...

    New Owner ‘05 Tune up

The ignition system on the Viper is really quite strong and typically the only parts anyone touches even on boosted applications are the plugs and wires. I'm not sure anyone even makes upgraded coil packs for the cars, probably in part because they are pretty unique (one 6 lead coil and one 4...

    *** Lockout

Yeah, that is one thing I wish I would have been able to see myself with this club. I read so many stories about some of the events that we used to be able to do with Dodge support and so many more members when the cars were new, but as you said, there are just so few cars out there in general...

    Gen 5 ACR Production Numbers

Wow, I guess I'm not that surprised there are so few non-extreme ACRs, but I would have thought it would have been at least a little closer. Kind of odd to think that is going to be the "rare" car in the future.

Not sure which site you guys are talking about, though I have an idea. Either way we are always glad to have more people on here to keep the spirit of the car alive and share as much knowledge as possible. My goal was always to have this club be the go to resource for Viper history and...
