I would personally pass on this. Just because you can throw all the components together and have it run doesn't mean it will run smooth. You will end up with a Frankenstein and have endless headaches trying to debug it. In the end you will only gain what a typical Paxton or Roe system can...
Good thing it wasn't too deep. Most of the time a key job goes down to the metal.
I've always wondered if you witnessed someone doing that and you punched his lights out would you be arrested for assault? Yes, he was destroying your property but wouldn't you get in trouble for assaulting him?
There are lots of options. Do a search and look for PBJ airboxes. However, there are two to stay away from. One is the open cone filters that suck hot air from the engine compartment and the other is the Fipke one with tight bends and small tubes.

Not to blame you at all but you should have had some red flags pop up when they requested. At least the spidey senses should have...

I use a Weldon 255.
With a BG heat sink.
Aeroquipe regulator -10 outbound and -8 return. My injectors are 75lb. I run the pressure between 55 and 58lbs. When I retune it I want to run a higher fuel pressure with higher boost.
If you need to take it to Dick Scott Dodge in Plymouth MI. They have done quite a few repairs on incorrect installs. Mine included.....
