    2008 SRT-10 Coupe - 10 Second Quarter Mile Passes

There's a lot of background leading up to these 10-second time slips that I won't get into here. I'm posting these to document that it happened even though it was over a year ago at this point. Full details will be covered in my next post.

    Hood Screens

Welcome! The Gen 4 hood vent screens/grilles are not required. They serve no functional purpose other than to keep larger debris (e.g. leaves) out of the engine bay. For racing applications, most prefer to run without the screens. If I recall correctly, the SRT engineers stated that it helped...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

You'll have to pry my freedom units out of my cold, greasy, fat, dead hands.

Stock Amplifier question on 06 SRT

If I recall correctly, I remember seeing a couple of unused plugs under the waterfall panel (behind the seats). I think they were on the passenger side. My car wasn't optioned with any fancy stuff, so I don't have it, but there are definitely plugs and enough real estate to mount a module like...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

Full story: I ran into this issue many years ago (~2017) when I swapped a Gen 5 differential assembly into my car. I didn't think I'd need to mess with the calibration since the speedo doesn't care, so I left it alone. During the first few drives, any time I'd let off the gas the...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

HPTuners Calibration Adjustments (Gen 4/5 Only) As the title states, this section only applies to a small subset of the Gen 4 (2008-2010) and Gen 5 (2013-2017) crowd – those that use HPTuners for a tuning solution. This is not about speedometer calibration – the Gen 3/4/5 cars reference the ABS...

    Knocking at My Back Door?!

Definitely time to start investigating. Answering Old School's question is a good start. It would help to have more info about when you are hearing the knocking sound. In general, there shouldn't be any noise coming from the rear diff. You may experience some excessive lash in the drivetrain...

    Big jugs of Mobil1 15W-50 at Wal-Mart

Pretty sure Wix makes the Gen 4/5 SRT filter. Check out the Wix 57063. Someone on the other site cut open a few different filters and found the following: Mopar MO-041 22.62 PSI average (sample of 3) 38N (Spring force) 17.3mm (Spring diameter) 21mm (Spring free length) 8mm (Spring...

    Lowered Driver Seat

You can modify the OEM track to lower just the rear of the seat. Basically you unbolt the rear feet, grind off a couple spot welds, flip them over, and bolt them back in place. It’ll lower the back of the seat about an inch, but leave the front of the seat at stock height which I prefer. I’m...

    2006 coupe rear shock nightmare

Removing the end links will probably help at least some. Note that the end links have a tapered portion that seats in the A-arms and the bar - they will be in there tight even after you remove the nuts. A puller set like this can help tremendously: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J6QV984/...

Gen 4 Heads on Gen 3

The composite intake makes a lot of sense for NA applications - lighter weight, less heat transfer, and from what I remember, slightly out performed ported Gen 4 units on the dyno. Considering the majority of Gen 4/5 cars aren't running forced induction setups, it seems like a no-brainer to me.

2010 ACR Blowing Coolant out overflow

I don’t get the impression that head gasket failure is common with the Gen 4s…I’d be more worried about the pistons durability-wise. There are aftermarket pressure cap options. Relevant info: Stock (21 psi): Mopar 5183710AA, superseded by 5278767AB (still 21 psi) Stock Replacement: Stant 10235...

Slow Market for coupes right now?

Agree with what was written above. You are asking no stories, low mile money for a car that clearly has a story, and is not low miles (I'm talking at least < 10k miles, < 5k miles would be more like it). The pics that are available are all low-res and there aren't enough - pics underneath can...

    DIY: Oil Cooler Lines (Gen.3 & 4)

Just as an FYI, there are fittings available that eliminate the need for an ORB-to-AN adapter, and are a bit better suited for this application since they are a double swivel design. The drawback is the expense since the fittings are ~$90 each, but Viper motors ain't cheap either. XRP is the...

Gen 3 vs Gen 4 Differential

For those that don't do well without pics: Gen 5 output stubs: Gen 5 axles: OEM Gen 5 axle bolts (sold in pairs) come with pre-applied Loctite, but I'd highly recommend drilling for safety wire as they have been known to walk their way out (usually when someone tries to reuse them without...

    Gen 5 rims/tires on a Gen 3

    1. Yes 2. A 275/35 will fit (spec wheel width range is 9-11" on a 275), but it may look a bit stretched. Keep in mind that a 295/30-18 tire has a shorter sidewall, so your front end will sit a bit lower, and you'll end up with more of a gap between the tire and fender. I had to lower my car a...

    Clutch reservoir cap

This is accurate for my Gen 4 - their 1103 adapter works on the Gen 4 Viper's brake master cylinder reservoir (and likely works for other Gens as well), no mods required. I had to send them a spare clutch reservoir cap to be modified to make it work for that. I also modified the rubber diaphragm...

    Clutch reservoir cap

When I needed one many years ago for that exact purpose, I bought one from X2 builders (assuming it was from a scrapped Viper), and then sent it to Motive for them to modify for their Power Bleeder. Motive did not have a cap for my specific application at the time...not sure if that's changed...

    3.55 Final Drive

I can't speak for the Gen 3 crowd, but 3.55s are pretty much the ideal gear for the Gen 4s as well. For 0-60 times, it's going to be a bit of a wash depending on how fast you can shift. With 3.07s, you can hit 60 in first gear - with the 3.55s, you'll have to shift to 2nd gear, which takes...

    Odometer Lighting

For LEDs, there's tons of options out there. Here's the basic list of what you'll need: - 10 instrument panel general bulbs, (color of your choice), T1.5 type - 3 HVAC bulbs, (color of your choice), NE05 (5mm) - 1 key ring bulb, (color of your choice), NE04 (4mm) - 6 misc. bulbs (interior and...

    12. Remove dash panel trim - Everything leads up to this - take your time when pulling on this panel, especially if your car has sat out in the sun a lot, as it may be brittle - Make sure you have all the screws removed (5 total, 2 of which were removed when you took out the center console)...

    7. Remove the side panel above the dead pedal - Removing this panel is critical to being able to get the knee bolster panel out easily - It is held in place by one screw (revealed after pulling the interior side sill trim pieces) and two Christmas-tree style push pins with large heads 8...
