I've been going to SMART training this week in the plant (Team Concept) and one of the issues we've been discussing is the J.D.Power ratings.
The numbers on the quality difference between Toyota and Chrysler is closer than most anyone would expect.
Toyota has .7 issues per vehicle, Chrysler...
Would the current UAW pay rate of $28 per hour plus healthcare benefits be considered grossly overpaid as you put it? That's a personal matter of opinion. Is it fair compensation for a repetitious job that's proven to wear your body out, IMO yes (but once again an opinion).
Once again it all...
Are there flaws with the union? Yes of course there are, but there are also flaws with management too. I personally see the unions as just a 2nd form of management.
The thing that the media doesn't tell you is that the union officials still get paid their normal salary while the workers are on...
It's really sad that most of you people don't even have a clue what the strike is about.
I get so sick of hearing about the quality of the people that work in an auto assembly plant from people who don't work there.
There are deadbeats, drunks and drug abusers in every profession.
Our current...
The state was kind enough to build a test track near my house. ;)
They're building a limited access highway near me a in 5-10 mile sections.
That's where it ends for now (been that way for a few years).
As funds are available they extend how far south it goes.
As you can imagine, it's...
There's are lots of pics of my car on my website with the accent stripes next to the main stripes at http://www.richdetert.com/Red97GTSSilverStripes.htm
1971 was the last year Dodge produced the Super Bee and they used the Charger body for them. Prior to that they used the Coronet body.
The Rumble Bee's are available in Solar Yellow or Black.
We're building the trucks here in St. Louis and all the custom work is being outsourced to a vendor...
The pictures don't really do it justice. The detail is amazing! It really looks Awesome in person. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
I was down at King Dodge with one of my cars and got to check out Michaels GTS while it was a work in progress. They were waiting for the software from Sean...
I was talking with Lou Espey the Service Manager at King Dodge (friend of mine and where I get all my warranty work done) and they have a Red 2004 SRT/10 they'd like to sell.
He said they would really deal on it (rather than just tie up $$$ on their floor plan and just cost them interest...
Here's one done by Dave Naeger of the Gateway VCA for our Fall Colors Tour.
It was pretty cool too.
There were comments made that Dave has waaayyy to much free time also.
That would be Roger Gibson. He's in southern Missouri, he specializes in restorations on rare Mopars. Depending on who you ask, he the current premier expert.
Dave, are you looking for yourself or Steve?
I know Steve said he wanted a Hemi Wing car.
There are alot of horror stories about cars damaged at the Emissions testing stations around St.Louis.
When I had my 94 Viper they didn't even run it on the rollers, they just did the test at idle.
My 97 they did run on the rollers (no problems).
The Gateway Clean Air program is a joke, on a...
The length of the stock Isolator is 4.75 inches.
I make the replacement shifter shafts in 3 inch, 4 inch and 4.75 inch lengths.
The 3 inch is 1.75 inches shorter than stock length which works great with a stock shifter knob.
The MGW Shift knobs are another way to shorten the shift throw...
Our time here is always too short.
It's terrible when you hear news of the death of someone you've come to know even if it's only by the things they've posted on a forum like this.
Pauls death will leave a void in the Viper community.
He touched enough lives directly and indirectly that he will...
If anyone needs a replacement white nylon collar for the clutch slave cylinder connection, I've got some spares. When they eliminated the connector on the trucks I had a bag of them in my toolbox at work.
Somehow they found their way into my toolbox at home.
(It was that or the...
A friend of mine (Keith Foy) has a Red 2001 GTS with 8,500 miles and he really want a 97 Blue with White Stripes GTS.
The 2001 is still under the 3yr/36K warranty till 9/04.
He's hoping to get a 97 that's still under an extended warranty along with some $$$ (depending on the car, he mentioned...
I set up the track rental that the Gateway VCA members along with a few other people (non Vipers) are doing on August 15th at Gateway International Raceway.
I'll check with the track and see what they say about having to meet NHRA tech if the track is rented for a competition.
What we're doing...
I'll be there in the GTS, this with make my 20th year attending the Mopar Nationals.
As long as the police don't do the Gestapo style tactics, Brice Road is awesome.
Last year a dealership started a cruise out in Heath OH. too, it's just east of National Trails Raceway.
From all the info I've seen available the SVS shifter is the best shifter available for the person with a completely open budget i.e. best available, but most expensive. (about $325 I believe plus installation)
The second best choice is the B&M Ripper shifter (about $225 I believe plus...
Sorry It took so long to respond, I've been out of town since last Sunday.
I'll give you a call in the morning (Saturday morning).
-----
Matt email me. If you still have it, ship the shifter shaft back to me, I'll be happy to refund you the $20 price of the shifter shaft ($25 less the $5...
This is exactly why I set up renting the track on the August 15. I've been there on nights where I only got 2 runs in in 6 hours, that Sucks.
With only 15 cars it will be run after run after run with no waiting.
Re: Dodge Viper or Mercedes -
It seems kinda funny to me that an old outdate Merdedes SLK platform is acceptable to be used for what is being sold as an all new Chrysler Crossfire.
One of the articles I've read about the Crossfire described the SLK platform as not acceptable to the standards...
Re: Dodge Viper or Mercedes -
Okay, so if they wanted a Mercedes platform, why didn't they why didn't they use a Chrysler Crossfire, basicly a SLK with a new skin and an American brand name (but still built in Germany).
