Mark, I want a new ACR like the concept car that debuted at SEMA this fall. How can they put 707 hp in a Challenger and Charger and not give us something even more fantastic for our beloved Vipers!!!!
Thanks so much for this great performance test and write up. I really enjoyed it.....especially the part about all the Vipers toasting the Vettes:D:D:D. Anyone have any info on when there will be a new ACR put into production from the SEMA concept car unveiled this fall?
I drive my track prepped ACRs daily, with full track splitter in and lowered, suspension set almost full stiff. I live in Texas so rain is usually the only inclement weather. You do have to drive 55-60 on the freeway on the Sport Cups when it's raining. I love the car too much to drive...
Another fantastic car is the Carrera GT. They are all convertibles and they come stock with 650 hp. I have friends that have both so I get to see them up close and side by side. Both are great cars, you should get one of each maybe?
Actually, the Viper is easier than some sports cars to keep in a straight line. A Lotus or a TT RX 7 are much worse IMO. If you can drive a sports car, then don't fear a Viper. They are great daily drivers. I've had 4 of them. Just don't drink and drive or get suckered into street racing...
I wish there was way to tromp the throttle in a Viper but sadly there is not. In a straight line, in 3rd gear, a 600 hp snake will come around on you unless you modulate the throttle. Takes some of the fun out of it but it puts some in as well since the guys/gals who modulate the best win...
Everyone always asks all of us what we would like most in the next Generation Viper. I vote for a little more ballast in that rear end. It's just a shame to not be able to use all that torque and motor without the back end coming around to greet you just when things start to get good. And I'm...
There is a wonderful vendor in Carrollton, Tx called Wheel Repair Solutions that repairs and ships wheels all over the country. All the car dealers, repair shops etc. use them. You would never have had to buy any new wheels.
Your front pads and rotors will always wear out first due to the front brake stopping bias. Uneven wear is another issue. Have you had Keith look at your car?
