Re: 3rd gear whine - HELP !!!!!!!!!!!
It's nothing that is going to go bad, just a gear that wasn't machined properly, if I remember correctly. Chrysler refused to fix this for me, so I highly doubt you'll be able to get anywhere.

Well, it is 'unrefined' compared to other sports cars at the same $100k price range. The interior is relatively cheap, there are no electrical goodies like traction control, auto climate control, heated seats, etc. The engine sill has a cable throttle rather than drive-by-wire, and the power...
Or you could just put the 2x6 infront of the ramp and then drive up on it, and then onto the ramp. ;)
Much easier than having to use a jack and jackstands.
Spend $100 and get a set of Polk DB651S and put them in the doors. Install instructions here: http://forums.viperclub.org/srt10-srt10-coupe-discussions/617959-installed-kicker-ks600-6-5-speakers.html
Go to the last page as that's where I swapped the Kickers for the Polks. The Polks are a...
That is a 92 Corrado VR6. I'm old school.
I had an R32, which was probably the best VW of late.
That engine increased displacement to 3.2 litres and 250 HP (which is what the Corrado makes now with the supercharger).
Haha, no toys for the Viper. I have my other car that I play with. Actually I just finished the supercharger install on that last weekend:
It won't beat the Viper though. :p
Now that I have your attention :D, I picked up a Viper beater for a fraction of the cost. Only problem now is that my Viper feels slow! 0-60 in 2.8 seconds.
Save your money, get some 5 quart jugs of Valvoline 10w30 from walmart and do an oil/filter change for under $50. Change it every 3k and enjoy.
I did this at 3k miles, and when I pass 6k miles sometime this summer I will be getting the oil analyzed so you can all see that Mobil1 isn't God's...
I have an Alcon one that I picked up from Costco for $99 about 4 years ago. It works great.
I think they have something similar now, although it is like $119 or more.

I love that my oil change thread keeps getting referenced, even though I got a lot of crap for it from the old farts on the forum! :D
I'm going to be changing the tranny, diff, coolant, and brake/clutch fluid in the spring, and I'll take my camera with me as well.

Well I followed up with the dealer today, and it doesn't look good. They can't find anything about a third gear replacement, and the service manager doesn't want to authorize a replacement incase it doesn't get approved. So, it looks like I may just have to deal with it.
They acknowledge...
Yup, it's Pennzoil now.
Who remembers how many people yelled at me when I said manufacturers get in bed with whomever gives them the best deal? Many people here were expecting my engine to fall apart since I didn't use Mobil1 on my last oil change. ;)
I'm using Valvoline SynPower 10w30...
Updating this thread... the noise is not normal.
I went to another dealership on Friday and I went for a ride with their tech, who also happens to own a 2003 Viper. I went around the block and he instantly heard the noise, and it was the first he had heard about it. Considering no one I...
H&R products are top notch. I have used them in many cars; they are in one of my cars now, and the other one has a Bilstein/H&R sport combo.
I will assure you that the spring rates of the H&R coilovers will be higher than the KWs or Motons, as that is always the case with H&R. They design...
Ah, so you guys are going to venture into the Viper world as well?
Welcome to the club.

P.S. - Silver definitely is the fastest.
You are correct. RBF600 is more hygroscopic than other fluids, since it's a race fluid and it supposed to be changed frequently. It has an amazingly high boiling point though.
I used Motul 5.1 in my last car, and it was great. It's DOT 5.1 (backwards compatible with DOT 3/4), and it...
If it comes down to it, maybe I will consider sending my Viper out there to Mark. He has been amazingly helpful with me trying to get this issue fixed, and there isn't anything even in it for him. That says a lot right there.
Next week when we get a non-rainy day, I am going to take the...
