DC has got to be kidding!
I have had shop manuals for GM and Ford and the biggest section are the trouble codes and their associated component testing procedure.
For example, in a Firebird, if you get an EGR code, you go to that code in the SM and it will tell you precisely how to test the EGR. And you will come up with bad EGR, bad computer, bad wiring, whatever.
The Viper manual has a total of 24 pages dedicated to this!
Also, the manual mentions using the DRBIII to diagnose VTSS. And that is all they say period!
Clearly, the diagnostic procedures are being witheld from the manuals.
They are going to get spanked real good with SB 1146 in CA which prohibits any kind of information withholding. (I have highlights of that bill in another posting - do search if interested.)
So, does anyone know, "Where's the Beef?"
