I've seen the picture of what a bad head gasket looks like on a gen 1. Does anyone have any picture of what the newer(better) head gaskets look like? I got underneath my car and looked last night and they don't look exactly like the old ones, so I wanted to see if anyone had pictures of the new ones to compare with.
Thank You

Easy...old ones looks sort of brownish or greenish paper and new ones are a 3 layer metal design...impossible not to see the difference.

Three layer design like Craig said. Out layers are shiny black in color. :usa:

Is this only visible from underneath the car?

Trying to find out for sure on my 1994.

Thanks,
Paul

Is the composite above the bad one? Or, are both steel and composite gaskets considered replacements for the 'paper'ones? Trying to get a better idea of what to look for.

Thanks,
Paul

"Composite" is just another name for "paper".... they are the same gasket. You want to use the tri-metal gaskets.
