Have had my 1996 GTS for 3 years and never had an issue. Left it with my mechanic for 2 weeks while I was on vacation to diagnose an idle issue and thinks it some sensors that need to ber replaced (IAC, TPS, Crankshaft postion). Car dies when I come to a stop. It drove fine while I was gone.

I get back and go to pickup the car. He gives me the key with fob and my door won't unlock. The windows were open. We thought the battery in the fob was done and replaced but no luck. We tried a hard reset by disconnecting the battery and no luck. The tail lights, front marker lights, front turn signals and red light on the dash flash when we reconnect the battery. The horn never sounds. When we try to start it dies immediately after turning over. We researched on the internet and couldnt get it going after 3 hours.

Any ideas? My mechanic thought the least expensive approach would be for me to delete the immobilizer and then install another security measure. Company in Texas will do this for $150.

Thanks.

Sorry for your trouble. Agree that Viper alarms are quite voltage sensitive...and aging. Charge your battery fully. If resting voltage is below 12.4v when measured 30 minutes after removing charger, consider battery replacement as FlashFXP has suggested.

DO NOT let the shop use the "start" option seen on many chargers as that may fry your PCM.

There is a factory procedure to reset the alarm system to get it out of "theft mode". Feel free to call me for assistance. 317-402-9013.

Personally, I would not even consider an aftermarket alarm as there can be issues "down the road".
