Anybody know of a higher flowing air filter for 08/09 cars?

Called K & N and they don't have one yet.

I asked this same thing recently. There are vendors that sell a "green" cleanable ala K&N filter for the 08/09 but replies advised against them as "no gain and worse, may cause check eng. lights". No thanks, oem paper is fine.

Snake Oyl sells a cold air intake/air filter combo for the 08-09 listing "potential" gaims in the 15 hp range but as far as i know no one has independently tested this product.

there are some gains available with a higher flowing filter, but not 15HP.... a before/after dyno shows an 11HP gain with no filters.... so maybe half that with a high flow filter?

Dan,

DC put a K&N in my 08 when he did my belangers, maybe the RX-8 that others noted? Dan C said there worth a few HP if you add headers, and he add's them on header installs. No gain w/out headers. Mike

The problem is that in order to actualize the full gain of the K&N (75hp) you have to do 2 things: 1) Install the K&N, 2) install the K&N Sticker on you rear window. Without the K&N sticker on the rear window you will only gain minor HP. With the sticker/filter combo it's a true 75 hp.

Power adders do not work unless you apply the external advertising to your car. I learned this from the "tuner" guys.

PS: there are also some interesting multipliers that can occur when you combine multiple stickers with vinyl graphics.

I greased the muffler bearings and tightened up my Johnson rods. Both mods good for 25 hp!

Flash

Dont forget to flush and fill your blinker fluid and fill your horn fuel. Neither of them will help with the HP but you should always think safety first!

Flash , I sure hope you have chrome muffler bearings , as the old standards ones do not function at peak capacity with the variable valve timing of the 8.4.

PS - using Johnson and rod in the same sentence is redundant.

The phone rings]

Jerry: Hello? Yeah, this is Jerry Seinfeld. What? Twenty-eight hundred
dollars?!! That's the estimate on my car?!! No, don't even do anything.
I'm gonna think about it. Okay, bye.

George: What's to think about? If Putty says it's what it is, it's what it
is. He's not gonna cheat you.

Jerry: Except that it's not Putty.

George: What happened to Putty?

Jerry: Eh, we had a little fight about the move. I took her to this other
place. I think they might be trying to screw me.

George: Well, of course they're trying to screw you. What do you think?
That's what they do. They can make up anything. Nobody knows. "By the
way, you need a new Johnson rod in there." "Oh, a Johnson rod. Yeah, well,
you better put one of those on."

Thanks for the info.

Car is at DC getting Belanger headers and Mopar race computer (no check engine light, increased rev limit, 93 octane tune).

Dan did mention a Mazda K & N filter, so I'll have him throw it in.

Don't believe you can't do better than a paper filter with the way this engine will breathe after the above mods, specially on the track.
