ab - Another question that would help me, and probably others...

Once all is established, how "accurately" (key word) can the trucking company provide me (us) with a predicted delivery date & time? This will be especailly important when delivering to a residential location, so that appropriate means to unload the lift can be coordinated.

Thanx again for your assistance!! :2tu:

Hey Adam,
Is that shipping to a residence, or to a terminal, and we
need to bring it bring it home from there? I don't have a
really handy way of loading/unloading/transporting something that big, unless they can forklift to my driveway.

Anyone else in the Portland OR area getting in on this and
want to try to get a break on shipping?

If you don't have a way to take the lift off the truck, I would suggest a terminal where they have fork lifts. You will need a truck with a long enough bed to load it on or a trailer.

From what I understand, once it leaves they will have a time and date. (obviously it will be an estimate)...

Sorry guys, but a Rotary lift is the ONLY way to go. You get what you pay for.

You may be right so why don't you cover the difference on the cost of the lift for everyone so we can buy the Rev lift.

Sorry to rain truth on the money saving parade, but I own a rotary lift not a junk lift.

After seeing the front half of a corvette in a dining room due to a cheap lift, just so some chump could $1,000.00 bucks or less, I chose to buy a real 4 post lift.

(Now, where is that icon of the ******* smashed under his car lift because he saved $800.00?)

Rotary is a good lift. The best? Sorry there are a couple lift manufactures that service the automotive market. BendPak ( http://www.bendpak.com/default.isg?cPath=214 ) is just as good if not better than Rotary. Both are tested commercial standards to insure design and materials safety.

Also important both have a nation wide service organization. I know BendPak has a nationwide installation network. Basic considerations safety a given, functionality(how well the vehicle fits the lift), installation is very important as a good lift can fail due to poor or improper installation. Service if you have a problem who will fix it? How available are spare parts? Will the company be in business tomorrow?

But if you have a limited budget AB's lift may be ok? Without testing who knows? I hope that the installation is done properly and that the lift work well. Hate to see anyone hurt or have their car smashed.

gheesh... they are all the same thing... a lift is a lift. some may be heavier duty, but to slam one over the other as crap is a bit out of line.

rotary has the name.

ab - couldn't you just build us all one?

So when is the deadline? I am thinking about buying one and getting it shipped to Mike's(AL).

Sorry if this has been covered, but what is the minimum ceiling height and I am still not clear what the width is? 79 inches ?

First off, I think AB has done a great job putting this deal together...Hope it all comes out ok.

Second, I have been leaning towards the Rotary because of its reputation, I may be wasting my $$, but peace of mind is worth it, and I happen to have enough $$ set aside to cover the extra cost.

Cheers,

Fred, because of your original post on this thread, any warnings/advice that you give is colored by potential conflict of interest. Not a criticism, just an observation. Frankly, reading your "Dad" posts, are tiresome.

i was interested in a two post lift also. Is the car stable on a two post? Two post would be best for me because i have a large enough garage being built for the storage, i want a good lift to be able to take off the wheels and do brake work or rotate the tires. I have 12' ceilings, so i assume that would be tall enough? At most maybe cut a hole in the drywall for the posts?

haha might not work so well on my viper:) Would be nice for some of my other cars though. Although i did see a picture of a four post lift that had a jack stand on it, so you could still jack it up while its up and take the wheels off, that might be nice too. The four posts do look more stable.

Jeffdai,

If you are having a new garage built, make sure the concrete is thick enough for a two post lift. You will want 6 to 8 inchs thick at 3500 PSI rated concrete.

Two post is not as stable as four post. If something heavy is removed (like a motor or tranny) from the car and the weight shifts...then it could fall. You just need to remember to brace the car during this type of work.

I love working on a car on a 4 post lift. I had never used a lift before in my life and it was a breeze pulling the motor on the Viper with the car on the lift. They are so sturdy that there is never a fear of anything bad happening, just remember to check the floor under the lift before you put it all the way down and hear a crunch (done that a few times to some tools and one phone)
